Police in Lebanon have fired warning shots and used tear gas against approximately 15,000 protesters who tried to assemble at the Danish consulate in Beirut.
Reuters reports that the Lebanese military had been called in to block roads leading to the consulate. The protesters were kept at bay at a distance of 200 metres from the consulate.
AFP reports that protesters have vandalized the Christian quarter of Ashrafieh in Beirut, hurtling stones and breaking windows to residential buildings.
