One thing I don't understand is why they're playing seven defencemen. Regardless of performance, it would make more sense to go with three set pairs.

Yeah... the US isn't beating Finland, IMO.

Nah, it wouldn't be a huge upset if they would. They are strong on paper. IT's a big game. This one matters. Play time is over. They're veterans. I've said early on that they're too old, but it's 60 minutes. I'd say it's close to 50/50 this one. Besides, Finland might feel a bit too good about themselves for the clean record after the prelims. And a bit pressured as well... So... I say the odds are closer to 50/50 than anything else and US victory would not be a huge upset. It would be a letdown for me of course but... it's very possible.

I see that as close as Czechs vs Slovaks, or Canadians vs Russians.

On paper, the USA should be underdogs but they played well against Russia. If the finns are not on their game the americans will take it.

Canada havent impressed me at all while the russians, although young, are an offensive juggernaut.

The Swiss are playing with heart and and discipline while Sverige has not impressed anyone.

Slovakia vs Czech is a tossup but I'm going with heart over skill.

Right, the US has to be on top of their game and this is how they can do it against the Finns...

Hard forechecking, take the time and space away in the center of the ice. This is what we do, but if you do it, it breaks our offense. Take away the easy first pass.

Play tight in front of the net. There are players who will always score given the opportunity in front of it.

And then, make the easy first pass, and try to have as many 2-2 and 3-3. Give no counters, shoot a lot from 2 on 2s and drive to the net. Don't play dump and chase unless you're willing to fight for every puck in the corners. That's it.

Just keep it simple.

Also few important factors,, we do have Ruutu and Nemo getting into your faces, so what especially few players in team US should do is be calm. Namely Tkatchuk, Chelios, Hatcher etc... The team will either go forward with them tonight, or fall because of them tonight. That's the way I see it.
