We all know the justification of banning screaming "fire" in a crowded theater. So what is the "rationale" behind the government's suppression of dissent in government buildings?

Disturbing the peace. Demonstration without permit. Common sense?

In a greater sense, she can be seen as threat to the safety of those in the chamber, especially the president. This woman is no simple dissenter or protester, she's more of a stalker with intent to harm.

I've so far ignored this woman, and will likely continue to do so... but I don't see how she (or her republican counterpart) were a threat. They may have violated dress code, sure, but don't give me the "she was a safety THREAT" bull****.

One other thing -- I'm not sure how wearing a T-shirt with a statement on it endangers other people.

Yeah, its a time, place, manner restriction. Demostrations in the House gallery could disrupt the legislative proceedings and it appears the Congress has taken a broad view of demonstrations. If she tried to challenge it I don't think she'd get anywhere.

Verbal abuse, mental abuse and torment. Cmon, the woman might as well be stalking David Letterman. Have you ever heard her talk? She's nutso. She could rush the podium in some sort of sick fantasy trance and try to attack the president.

Have you ever heard of a non-controversial protest where there is no tension?

That's the NATURE of dissenting speech and protest. But tension and controversy does not always result in physical violence.

If this is your line of reasoning, then all forms of protest, in all places, need to be banned less such things endanger the public.

I'm saying that she should have been thrown out because she's a threat, not because there was some sort of quasi-extistential tension bs going on. Stop painting her actions with a broad brush. She's not a rational person. She doesn't protest to open up dialogue. She protests out of selfishness and the need to feel important.
