Heck of a fight for the playoff spots in both conferences. I don't like the shootout from an integrity-of-the-game stand point, but from a playoff standpoint, eliminating ties has been a good thing.

I've only been to 1 game that ended in a shootout, but i've previously been to a few that ended in ties. Statistics and integrity be damned, the shootout is FUN to watch.

edit: but I must also ad that the shootout should NEVER be used in the playoffs. I've been to a playoff game that went into multiple overtimes, and NOTHING beats that. Best night of my life.

Oh, I don't disagree that shootouts are exciting. Unquestionably, they are. Just sucks that you have to remove so much of the sport to decide the contest. I just wish there was another way to ensure a victor every night.

As a Flames fan, I cannot be happier that the shootout doesn't exist in the playoffs... I think we have one of the worst records in the league in the shootout.
