very few robberies are "home invasions" in the US. Criminals would rather steal valuables then trade shots with people in their homes.
Steal valuables from where ? Usually people keep such items indoor, so I have a little problem to see how they avoid invading homes.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

"Home invasion" is forced entry into an occupied residence, as opposed to, e.g., breaking and entering. Bear in mind that I wasn't quite sure of the difference, and so I did a quick google search on the relevant terms before I made a completely misinformed and asinine post.

Robberies are usually done to persons on the street or the premises of an easily scouted business (like a gas station or convenience store which are mostly glass). The reason is that they can size up the situation a lot more easily and get the drop on a single person. Invading a home is more problematic. It's often difficult to know how many people are in the home for starters. Secondly, it's difficult to know whether the person inside has any weapons and whether or not they keep them readily accessible. With one in every two residences in the U.S. containing at least one firearm apparantly they don't like their chances much.
He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

Guess that I should have checked that "home invasion" thing - we may have a similiar term, but then it's a very rarely used thing. In danish, the term would probably be robbery.
You say that home invasions is rare in US because the robbers doesn't know how many people there are and how heavily armed they are, well, home invasions as described are actually exstremely rare here even though the criminals can be pretty sure that there are no armed people inside.
Maybe our burglars are smarter - they tend to break in when there is nobody at home.
