Are you ready for some FOOTBALL! - Hot Stove Edition
I about had a heart attack this game. I'm half drunk, incredibly excited, and completely exhausted. Here are some preliminary thoughts:
Roethlisberger was throwing like ****... probably his worst throwing game as a pro. He's getting a $500,000 bonus... He should give $200,000 to El, $200,000 to Ike Taylor, and $100,000 to Ward, because they saved his ass. Partially made up with it with his running plays, but I doubt that Ben will want to watch this tape too often.
Ward deserved the MVP, as did Hampton. The DL play is what ultimately sitfled the 'Hawks' O.
Faneca's block was huge in the Parker run, but Parker made it work. He made a monster juke in the hole, then simply outran everyone. That juke turned a 5 yarder into a 75 yarder. Had Ben not thrown the momentum killing, game changing INT, Parker would have won the MVP. However, that run was diminshed a bit because of the subsequent shift of momentum.
Alexander had the quietest 95 yards that I've ever seen.
How can Homgren and staff be so bad at clock management?
I'm about to get aroused from watching the pokemon and that's awesome. - Pekka
Ike's getting better. He's not the same guy that Harrison burned a couple of months ago. This game, he played back to start, and then got more aggressive once he had a feel for the offense, and made the big plays.
Big ben looked terrible. This was a throwback to last year, when a great team carried Roethlisberger along. He's still in the process of improving, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a better career passer rating than Manning when all is said and done.

like I said in an earlier thread, the super bowl is one of the most boring games of the year... it's brutal to watch... especially for intelligent football fans... it's more of a circus sideshow than a sporting event.
thank god madden and michaels are done... they were awful tonight, as they've always been... GEE I THINK I KNOW THAT JEROME BETTIS IS FROM DETROIT... DO YOU THINK YOU GUYS SAID IT ENOUGH? OR DID YOU MENTION ENOUGH THAT MATT HASSELBECK'S DAD WAS IN A SUPER BOWL ALSO?
but anyways, for Pittsburgh... they deserved to win
near the end I found myself rooting against Seattle...
Hasselbeck is a turd... Holmgren is a turd... and I hate Jurevicious (I'm not even going to look his name up... **** HIM)
I've disliked Hasselbeck since that Green Bay game when he said "WE WANT THE BALL AND WE'RE GONNA SCORE" during the coin toss for OT and then he threw the interception (OOPS )... he's such an arrogant, whiny asswipe... just like Brett Favre... I think he gets that from Holmgren.
oh well, NO MORE FOOTBALL TALK FOR ME UNTIL THE DRAFT (unless something huge happens)

I noticed less of the stupid filler chatter than is usual for football games...besides you gotta remember that many if not most viewers of the Super Bowl are people who dont pay attention to the sport for the rest of the year.
Besides they had to pronounce names like these perfectly for the whole night, cut them some slack
I liked XXXVI when Madden kept saying "Why are they trying to score? They should be kneeling and going to overtime!"

Pittsburgh deserved to win? Why?
Seattle, I admit, deserved to lose.
Jurevicious is one of my favorite players, you obviously know nothing about him.
ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!
Though Seattle was jobbed by the refs. If the refs made proper calls, the score would have been close as the game was. It really wasn't as lopsided as the score indicated.
Though both teams looked a bit rusty. I always have hated the 2 week break between Conference Championships and the Super Bowl. It just leads to bad football.

Oh, btw, the A(whatever) Mortgage had the best commercials of the night . They were the don't judge too quickly ones. The first one with the doctors and the fly was the best, but the one with the plane was good as well.
Magic fridge was nice as well. And the 'streaker' in the Budweiser horse game was great .

I liked the one with the caveman who gets fired for not using Fedex. That one made me laugh uncontrollably.
CGN | a bunch of incoherent nonsense Chris Jericho: First-Ever Undisputed Champion of Professional Wrestling & God Incarnate Mystique & Aura: Appearing Nightly @ Yankee Stadium! | Red & Pewter Pride Head Coach/General Manager, Kyrandia Dragonhawks (2004 Apolyton Fantasy Football League Champions)
1) The Magic Fridge (Budwieser)
2) "That Killed Him" (Ameriquest)
3) Caveman Gets Fired (Fedex)
4) The one where the family (I guess) is playing football and the guy gets all macho and tackles the **** out of the woman (Bud?)
The Stones show was kind of a commercial for forced retirement but I can't count it in the list.
Weirdest commercial in a long time
1) Godzilla and the giant robot give birth to a Hummer
Thanks to the Goddamn CRTC, we didn't get to see the commercials again this year. The only commercial we got other than the usual crap was a Bell Canada ad with an animated beaver voiced by Norm Macdonald. Hurrah for us!
