Ah, and therein lies part of the problem as well. Asian Americans suffer from what some term the "perpetual foreigner" syndrome in that Asian Americans can never be seen as "Americans" by many, and will always be foreign, and on the outside, so that the line between Asian and Asian American doesn't exist in the minds of many. This is not to say that your personal experience couldn't contradict this, but this is what race theory has come up with thus far.

That said, I'm not quite rabid about that--I'm willing to give most the benefit of doubt.

Oh, and my vote is for Asians. Funny, that. Who'da thunk it? (That said, it's not like I find Latinas unattractive--any ethnicity can be physically attractive, but in this case I'm casting my vote for those whose ethnicities more closely match mine, both out of what may be a biological and psychological in-built bias, and perhaps slightly out of a buried and unformed political thought.)
One of my best friends is Chinese, and he hates Asian women. He refuses to date them. He does not find them attractive at all. And he tries to tell other people about the negatives of Asian women. I find it hilarious. My theory is, it's because of his home life. His mom and his sister are both very... hmmm... what's the word... uhhhmmm... well, I can't quite sum them up in one word. But they are both very "explosive" when it comes to things. They will not hesitate to turn into screaming psychopaths when they get the least bit annoyed.

I think that after years of torment in his family, my friend has just developed a hatred for Asian women because of this. But that's just my theory. Maybe there are other factors. I'm not sure.

He's currently dating a girl who is half Mexican and half white.

They are pretty serious, too. He was never a lady's man, though. I bet they will eventually get married. I think she was his first.

I don't think that its that big of a problem. Most guys drool over fully Americanized Asian girls as much as culturally Asian girls. The culture factor doesn't really come into play at all. Maybe that's just my personal experience.

Actually, that's the thing. How can you tell a fully-Americanized Asian from a culturally-tied Asian? You can't, not really, not until you observe them for a period longer than a date. With virtually every Asian here, 1-gen, 2-gen, 3-gen or beyond, there's going to be a slight tension between seeing themselves in the foreign/exotic light and the native/normal light (the former reduces drastically starting with the 2-gens).
The thing is, "outsiders" to this sort of experience, i.e., non-Asians, might not pick up on this subtle effect at all--with all Asians in a predominantly Western nation, it's been my experience that the gut instict of those westerners is to assume everyone Asian is foreign.

I've been asked, innocently, politely, when I'm going back home, and they're not intimating that it's stateside.

BTW, Am I the only one who thinks that Indian girls can be quite hot?

I find them quite attractive. I also consider them Asian, largely by virtue of being... Asian.

        They aren't

Oh, silly Bosh. I'd think that being in Korea, you'd know that Asians are emasculated there. For all the braggadocio, every single Korean male is still under the thumb of his mother, and to a lesser extent, his wife.

Stateside, it's entirely different. You don't have articles meant tongue in cheek, "Black/White/Latin Or Gay?"

        ===

This said, I fully expect Asians to win. Largely because we're just naturally superior. The Ubermenschen, if you will.

I don't see where the effeminate and asexual males thing could come from. Strongly associated with our cultural conceptions of East Asia:

          -Ninja

Maybe geographically (though they are part of the sub-continent), but Indians are of a different racial group than East Asians. We both know this. I assume that people have been meaning East Asian when they've been writing "Asian."

Latinas. I tend not to like the looks of Asian women, tho there are certainly exceptions.

Samurai, and the Mongol Hordes notwithstanding, most of what LC said holds:

-Warrior Monks, while not necessarily having to be celibate, are considered as such.
-Ninjas are rarely considered masculine, what with their emphasis on cloak-and-dagger activities. At best, they're androgynous.
-Having lots of concubines does not necessarily make one virile nor manly. A harem does not a male make.
-Kamikaze pilots are about as honored as "masculine" as suicide bombers are. Just because they majority are male doesn't mean that they're considered as such.
-Mao? Mao as a masculine, virile sex symbol? Where are you from?

What it boils down to is it's very rare in Western culture to view the Asian as a romantic lead. Virtually every single Asiatic male in popular culture is a sidekick, a helper. Always the groomsman, never the groom. What few Asian leads there are are often Asian females, and more often than not, their presence is to be a romantic interest for a non-Asian female.

We have a lot of spaniards over at my college, and a good number of Chinese too. I have to say: all the chinese were unattractive, while the hispanics were usually quite decent

maybe we're **** outta luck having the uglier people

Gibsie: Rare does not necessarily mean there aren't exceptions.

Jet Li, however, is the exception that proves the rule in Western/Hollywood films.
