  • The 10000$ poker challenge

or, how I came to stop worrying and pay for my wedding through gambling proceeds

Two days ago I withdrew all monies from my pokerroom.com account except for 20$

My goal is to make 10000$ in as little time as possible. My hope is to do so in under 3 months, preferably in under 250 hours at the tables.

Who will race me? I now have 100$ (after 5.5 hours of play at the smallest limit tables to reduce the chances of me running through my bankroll).

Apolyton poker players, I challenge you! I will attempt to update regularly with my progress.

You're pretty capitalistic for a commie.

This is going to take skill, determination and simple endurance. We're talking about pounding the tables with 2.5-3 hours of top-notch poker play, the best that I can bring every single day for the next three months

what tables you play with 100 bucks? 10c/20c I assume? Or up to 25c/50c?

Anyway I'm not up to the challenge yet. Simply because my poker isn't at your level yet, and because I haven't got the time. I have so many courses I'm taking this semester plus I have to have a lot of sex so.. but I'm taking great interest to your challenge and wish to join you later on.

        Best Greetings,

        Your Dear SC.

With 100$ I can afford 1$/2$. My variance at these levels is pretty low.

              Or the 5$ SNGs

When I get to 200$ I will play 10$ SNGs exclusively

              At 400$ I will play 20$ SNGs

              At 1000+$ I will play 50$ SNGs and 20$ and 50$ multi-table tournaments

that's cool, depends where you play though.. 1/2 can get high if the players are playing loose.. big pots, you always need to commit yourself and even though you would be tight, some butthole is always there to raise you with nothing and win the race ... I guess it's safe to say I've had some bad experiences lately. Almost lost my whole bankroll, which wasn't much but still, enough to allow me to play some bigger pots..

I guess I'm a grinder, I like to play it safe, hundred times the big blind MINIMUM before entering the table, and then something to fall back, that means I'd need minimum of $300 to go into 1/2 table, meaning $200 with me and $100 to fall back on. I know, that's kind of .. excessive but I like it that way.

But that's cool though, I know I should ante up and move to bigger table. Yes, I'll do that when I have grinded my way up to where I was. I got addicted on heads ups, had great success, won like 8 out of 10, played them in a row, started from $5, then to $10, then to $20, and then to $50, had success, then moved to $100 and got few set backs, some bad luck plus better players, I totally got whooped and now I'm back to square one. Got too greedy .

How about a blog KH? Usually I think blogs are self-indulgent wastes of time, but one on this subject could be an interesting read....

It's even got the human interest angle, "Will he or won't he win enough to pay for his wedding....?" Tune in tomorrow!

never played poker (apart from recreation with friends - not online to make/lose money)- so what is the big deal? lots of people without skill waiting to have their money taken off them?
