I tell you to report me, and you respond by threatening to report me? Err ... okaay.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Let's see if the message hasn't somehow come across to you before involving other people, shall we?

Kennedy was really going for that guilt by association crap yesterday. How many people here have signed a petition while walking through campus? Anyone?

How many people here have signed a petition to ban women and minorities while walking through campus and then bragged about it years later on a job application?

The CPA crap is ridiculous, especially after Sen. Kennedy's minions went through all records of it and couldn't find evidence that Alito even belonged, let alone had any role in it (that included official rosters and meeting attendance records).

What the records did show was that the CPA was very involved with trying to get ROTC back on campus, one of Alito's college crusades. So basically I can see Alito following the enemy of my enemy is my friend route, which proboby consisted of him shouting "Yeah, bring the ROTC back," at a rally that had the CPA in attendence.

So if I was a member of the Democratic party in the 60's I am automatically a supporter of everything the racist and sexist Souther Democrats stood for back then?

              Talk about nutjobs...

Princeton brought the ROTC back on campus during Alito's Senior year, before he actually became a member of CAP (Concerned Alumni of Princeton). That claim doesn't pass muster.

They supported bringing ROTC back on campus. Read the facts.

And bragging about it? Ok, name your party affiliation and I'll stamp you with whatever scarlet letter you want, because I'm sure someone, somewhere, registered under the same party, did something wrong.

Yep, just can't remember if he was ever in a group who claimed women shouldn't be allowed to go to the same school. Then there was that whole tacky scene where Arlin Spectre tried to weasel out of investigating the matter by pretending he never got the letter from Kennedy requesting the records from the organization (from when Scalito was a member) and then flatly refusing to allow any investigation. Spectre seems to be a P.O.S.

He did mention it as a highlight on his resume when he applied for a job with the Reagan administration. That may not be bragging but it most certainly does look like he's been lying under oath.

Yeah ok Oerdin. I'll make sure to make a note about your jaywalking habit and bring it up at your senate hearing in about 30 years.

Jaywalking isn't the same thing as joining a sexist, racist organization (and again, no he couldn't have joined for the ROTC because it was back on campus by the time he joined), and then putting it on your application to the Justice Dept.

The big issue here is not that he was apparantly a bigotted **** when he was in college, or that he thought it would help him get a job at Reagan's Justice Dept. two decades later (Ed Meese wasn't exactly known for his tolerant views), but that it's pretty damn obvious that he lied to the Senate Judiciary Cmte.

No, Ramo. Army ROTC came back, but the Navy/Airforce/Marines did not and am pretty sure they still have not. During Alito's entire stay there, he had to drive to another campus to fullfill his ROTC requirements.

Of course that would explain the complete lack of activity, his only common ground with that organization evaportated at the same point he would have had reason to join.

Am I the only one actually watching this thing? No Oerdin, he told Kennedy after this embarassing temper tantrum that he was being an ass clown and would process the request a la procedure. He in fact did allow investigation of the documents.

And such revelations, see above for the big news.
