Did you even read the OP? Oh well, go back to your ugly nerd-street cred PC.

I'm neither a nerd nor a PC fanboi - I just hate Apple.

I did read the OP. As for the underpowered charge, I think KH summed it up pretty well:
      Ahh.

So now I can own an Intel-based laptop and only pay a 700$ premium for the privilege of running MacOS in a pretty white case?

As for the icky humanists, I take it you've not seen the humanist half of the campus here.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

I don't see where you get this "700$ premium", except if you compare the "MacBook", built for professionals, to a consumer-level, budget laptop from Toshiba or something. Check out IBM/Lenovo laptops, and you will find 1999+$ price tags as well.

Please, MacBooks and PowerBooks arent for professionals.

A professional laptop is, for example, a T60p...with a FireGL video card. And the reason even regular T60s have a premium are the premium features, like shock-absorbing chassis and integrated WWAN (Cell-phone based internet), biometric security, etc.

Asher, I do not like your counter-argument, and thus I do not accept it.

When I'm going to back to college in a couple of months, I'm stuck having to buy a $1k PPC Powerbook because their IT are not sure how the Intel based Macs are going to work with the PPC.

But what bothers me is the entire school still uses WEP encryption (with a password they assign to you direct from Webster himself).

I suspect they mean design professionals. Theres a big difference between, say, IT professionals with no sex life, and a whore who doesn't know how to type.

PowerBooks are the weakest laptops of the past 3 years. It baffles my mind how anyone can say their market is professionals.

                          As if this was news.

I imagine Apple will sell a ton of MacBooks, since a lot of people have been waiting to upgrade for over a year.

Boring Macworld otherwise: just improvements to the consumer multimedia apps.

I was considering getting a laptop this summer and looked at the T60p...is the standard 512 RAM really enough?

Depends one what you want to do with the box, I suppose, but I'd definitely looking at getting more RAM than that. Heck, it's what my ancient compaq laptop has.

RAM is expandable...IIRC the T60p can have 2GB of RAM installed.
