They didn't ship multi-button mouses with Macs until last year, IIRC.

It doesn't matter if somebody else makes them.

          Actually, I was.

I had the misfortune of having to use Macs when I went to that Art school. It really sucked because I had to save all my projects on a Mac zip disk. Which was REALLY GREAT because I could never work on my projects at home... I had to always go into school and work on them because the Mac zip disk wouldn't work on my PC.

          stupid ****ing macs

          and those mouses ****ing sucked

it was horrible having to use photoshop and macromedia flash on a mouse with one button... trying to fricking right click all the time

AHHHH I WANT MY RIGHT CLICK
STUPID MAC I'm GONNA THROW YOU OUT THE GOD DAMN WINDOW

"Programs should be designed in such a way that the tasks and function of the program is easily accessible, without programmers relying on the crutch of a right click". Or so they say.

For myself, when I used* my Apple mouse, I never really found the one button too inconvenient - I picked up on the keyboard shortcuts rather quickly.

*I really don't use my Apple Bluetooth mouse anymore(swapped it out for a 9.99 MS mouse), since I find it unbearably heavy, ackwardly shaped, and with a slow mouse speed. That said, I like to leave it on my desk since it's so pretty

Don't you need to run Norton or something?

              • Sava, couldn't you have used a Windows formatted zip disk, like I used to? This was back in '00, or so ... had no problems with it. PCs can't read MAC zip disks, but Macs have been able to read PC zip disks since forever ... I'd say it's a shortage in your PC, not the Mac.

How long does it take Bill Gates to change a light bulb?

He doesn't; he just declares darkness the new standard. I just read that today.

                      • One thing that's bothered me is how iPods are "Windows formatted" or "Mac formatted".

You can't read the iPod if you hook a "Windows" iPod up to a Mac and vice versa...which is completely retarded to me.

                          Well, duh

The idea of tainting an iPod by connecting it to a PC is so...dirty.

Why? If people wanted a two button mouse, and for some odd reason didn't already have them, they're available at Apple Stores.

We had a guest industry speaker lecturer today in my software process improvement lecture. He's Brian Schultz, who is pretty famous in the field of software QA/QC.

One thing he kept driving home was a comparison between Mac and Windows quality...and how it translates into market share.

He showed a video from 5(?) years ago. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were both on the "panel" for a discussion. At one point Steve Jobs proudly proclaimed "Apple software has far less bugs than Microsoft software", and Gates quickly quipped "And I've got 98% market share".

The idea was to assess the priorities of consumers, the difference between a realist and a dreamer.

Anyway, that was a tangent. I found it interesting, though.

I'm perfectly happy with Apple's market share - I'd like to see it increase, but not by too much..just enough to see more attention paid to it WRT games and other software. If 98% market share for Bill is what it takes to keep my computer virus-free, and a great machine to use, then so be it.
