Seattle doesn't get respect because they are in the NFC West, and are going to the Super Bowl after beating the 6th seed Redskins and the 5th seed, running back impaired Panthers.

    • The Pathers were running back impaired for most of the game against the #2 seeded Bears as well .

The Bears were Offense impaired... (and their defense flopped when it mattered most. Maybe they peaked too soon)

          • I think it is completely undoubtable now that Seattle is by far the class of the NFC. Hopefully they'll get some respect now.

              • Seattle's defense was solid today. Good scheme, committing to cutting Smith out of the mix and taking their chances with the rest.

Carolina really lost their poise early, looked like a different team from the one that dominated the Bears. Seattle's offense sliced through the #3 NFL defense with ease.

1st Super Bowl ever for Seattle. Props to Holmgren.

I really wasn't that surprised about the Panthers' collapse. They've been a bit schizo all year. They'd look great for two weeks, then look terrible for a week. Add into that the fact that they were starting a FB at RB, that their defensive strength (the D-Line) was forced to face Seattle's offensive strength (their great O-Line), and that the Panthers were basically a one trick pony in the passing game (much like the Redskins), and you have the potential for an implosion.

As a Steelers fan, I was hoping that the Panthers would win. Seattle's O line makes me nervous.

                      No offense intended!

I watched most of the Skins' game this year, and I think that they were one-and-a-half trick ponies at best (I'm only talking about the passing game here.) Moss is a legit threat, and Cooley can be a threat if ignored. Shut down Moss and the Skins' passing game was pretty much shut down.

I don't know what Givens could add. He went down early. Maybe he would have improved things. However, it seems as if the Skins are in desperate need for a #2 WR. Jacobs is a #3 at best, more likely a #4 receiver. Royal can't catch ftom the TE position. Thrash is so-so.

                      • Unless he is counting Portis as the second trick. Who'd be worthy of the title. Even though he was totally shut down against Seattle.

                        • We took Patten, not Givens. But I think all Patriots WRs look better with Brady throwing to them, and it's not reasonable to expect similar production when they change teams.

Really, we should have Moss as our #1, Patten as our #3, Jacobs and Thrash at 4 and 5 in some order, and somebody else entirely as a #2 WR. None of the players we have right now are good enough, period.

Don't expect it from Vegas... Steelers are 4-point morning-line favorites for the Super Bowl.

The Seahawks just totally dominated the league's #3 defense and a team that many pundits picked to win at the start of the season, in a performance that was equally comparable to the one the Steelers had against the Broncos, and were the NFC's #1 seed... and they're underdogs to a #6 seed? Seriously, I think these two teams are evenly matched... but that's a slap in the face to the entire conference, one that proved to be much stronger this year than many were expecting.

I'll definitely be taking the Seahawks at those odds...

Cooley was 4th among TEs/FBs in catches, and 2nd in touchdown catches. That counts as a legitimate threat.

Sorry about that, I meant Patten.

I still think that Cooley thrived because he was often overlooked. Plus, the 3TD Cowboys game kind of inflated his stats. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a tough, clutch player who tended to get the tough first downs. However, I don't think that he'd be considered a full fledged threat. I'd compare him to the Steelers' Verron Haynes.

Edit: I meant Cowboys, not Giants. Cooley had his 3TDs vs. the Cowboys.
