DeShaun Foster has turf toe, and it is an injury that is tough to heal. (It's what killed Michael Clayton's season in Tampa.)
That said, I expect him to play, and for Carolina to feature him.Last edited by -Jrabbit; January 11, 2006, 18:11.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

Breaking News!
The Green Bay Packers will fill their head coach vacancy with a former Brett Favre tutor, but not the one some people close to the quarterback had suggested might perhaps make an apt replacement for the deposed Mike Sherman.
Packers general manager Ted Thompson has chosen San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy to be the team's new coach, with an official announcement likely later this week. The two sides must still negotiate a contract, but there aren't expected to be any major sticking points in those discussions.
The job offer to McCarthy, one of seven candidates that Thompson interviewed, was confirmed to ESPN.com on Wednesday evening by NFL sources and also reported by ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
McCarthy, 42, served as the Packers' quarterbacks coach in 1999, working with Favre. Last week, Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, suggested his client might more likely to return to the team in 2006 if Green Bay hired Steve Mariucci, a former Packers assistant who was later the head coach in San Francisco (1997-2002) and Detroit (2003-2005).
Since leaving the Packers to become offensive coordinator of New Orleans Saints in 2000, McCarthy has maintained a relationship with Favre. It is not believed, however, that played a significant part in Thompson's decision to offer McCarthy the job.
Regarded league-wide as a very creative offensive mind, McCarthy is also known for his communication skills and ability to develop a quick rapport with his players.
The Pittsburgh native entered the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993 and served as an offensive assistant and then quarterbacks coach for six seasons before going to Green Bay in 1999. He was named the Saints' offensive coordinator in 2000 and helped then-coach Jim Haslett lead New Orleans to a division title that season. In 2005, McCarthy was hired by first-year 49ers coach Mike Nolan as offensive coordinator.
As a college coach, McCarthy served on staffs at Fort Hays State (1987-88) and the University of Pittsburgh (1989-92).
Among the quarterbacks with whom McCarthy has worked at the college and pro levels are Joe Montana, Rich Gannon, Elvis Grbac, Alex Van Pelt, Jake Delhomme, Jeff Blake, Matt Hasselbeck, Marc Bulger and Aaron Brooks.
Also interviewed for the Packers position were defensive coordinators Wade Phillips (San Diego), Ron Rivera (Chicago), Tim Lewis (New York Giants) and Jim Bates (Green Bay) and offensive coordinators Maurice Carthon (Cleveland) and Sean Payton (Dallas). Thompson had arranged to interview Pittsburgh offensive line coach Russ Grimm later this week.
Sherman was dismissed the day after the season ended, after compiling a 59-43 mark in six seasons.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

How odd. It made it seem like they wanted to fire the old coach just to get Farve to leave."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear

You wanna coach the Raiders....
You've wondered. I've wondered. We've all wondered what it must be like to experience a job interview as conducted by Al Davis, believed to be the NFL's all-time most prolific practitioner of the art. Candidates to fill the Raiders' head coaching position, vacated by Norv Turner 10 days ago, are beginning to make their way to the team's Alameda offices. Oh, to be a fly on the wall...
Al Davis: Welcome, good to see you. Have a seat. Can I get you anything before we start? Bread? Water?
Desperate Candidate: No, thanks. I had some salted peanuts on the flight in.
AD: Was it a good flight?
DC: No, actually. We hit a ton of turbulence.
AD: Turbulence is good. It builds character. We don't run from turbulence here in Oakland. We welcome turbulence. We dominate turbulence.
DC: Uh, OK. Listen, I have a copy here of my resume, and several ref...
AD: Don't need it. I know who you are. I know your work. I've studied your work over the years.
DC: You have?
AD: Yes I have. I believe you should know your enemies better than you know your friends. This is how I dominated Pete Rozelle in court. This is how the greatness of the Raiders evolved, how we were the first team to win the Super Bowl as a wild-card entry, how we became the team of the decades. Don't forget: The autumn wind is a Raider.
DC: Well, then, allow me to briefly summarize my philosophy. I believe in a ball-control offense with quick-strike capability. I believe in tenacious def...
AD: Excuse me -- I'd like a sandwich.
DC: A sandwich?
AD: Yeah, a sandwich. You'll want to write this down.
DC: You want me to get you a sandwich?
AD: Yes. I want albacore tuna on wheat, lightly peppered and with a sprinkling of shredded lettuce. You can get that at the deli on the corner here. And I want a diet kiwi-mango Snapple. You'll have to go to a 7-11 in south San Lorenzo to find that. Here are the directions.
DC: Um, sure, I guess. I'll see you in about 45 minutes.
AD: Sit down. You're not going anywhere.
DC: Didn't you want a sandwich?
AD: No. I can go days without eating. You have to dominate and intimidate hunger. I just wanted to see if you would get me a sandwich. It's an important part of the interview, and you passed. John Madden, all those years ago, he passed. Tom Flores, some of the great names we've had here, Art Shell, Mike White, Jon Gruden. When other teams wouldn't trust them with a lunch order, I did. Mike Shanahan wouldn't go -- I should have taken that as a bad sign.
DC: So this is important?
AD: Very important. It has everything to do with the greatness of the Raiders, a commitment to excellence. For example, if I asked you to jump?
DC: I ... would ask "How high?"
AD: Excellent. And if I asked you to paint my house?
DC: I'd ask, "What color?"
AD: Actually, no. There is only one color scheme -- silver and black. It's the color of greatness. The great players we've had have worn it with pride. Willie Brown, Dave Casper, Bo Jackson, some of the great champions we've had, Jim Plunkett, Tim Brown. Mike Shanahan wanted to change our colors to blue and orange -- I should have taken that as a bad sign.
DC: About my qualifications ...
AD: Can you dominate?
DC: Uh, sure.
AD: Can you intimidate? Let me hear it.
DC: Yes, sir.
AD: Have you always wanted to be a Raider, a member of professional football's winningest organization, the team of the decades, a team that dominates with greatness and intimidation?
DC: I'm, uh... This is, .... I mean, of course I have.
AD: You're not one of those namby-pamby sticklers for discipline, are you? We've had tremendous free-spirited individuals, Otis Sistrunk, Jack Tatum, Ben Davidson, some of the great ones, Ted Hendricks, Ken Stabler. They had no need for discipline. We don't need discipline to dominate.
DC: I suppose I'm good with that. But I'm wondering -- don't you even want to look at my playbook?
AD: Don't need one. Already have one. You'll get to know it well if we make you the next head coach in pro football's winningest organization. In the meantime, here's a bucket and sponge.
DC: For what?
AD: My car needs a good wash and wax. It hasn't looked right since Joe Bugel got his hands on it.
