  • So when is the Homeworld movie coming out? Or Galciv? There is a whole host of good videogames that are due for a Hollywood thrashing.

    • Sigh... there are so many games that could have a really good movie adaptation, and these would probably get botched in reality. Silent Hill. Half-Life. Homeworld. Even the recent FEAR could be made into a half-decent horror movie. A movie based on the Elder Scrolls universe would be interesting if done well. And I remain sure that all of the above would be turned into complete thrash in a movie. Like Doom reportedly was (I didn't have the guts to go see it, I'm afraid it will insult my Doomer feelings too much).

            • So far I a have only made it halfway through FEAR, but I agree a very good movie could be made from it.

Homeworld would be good because the specifics of the store ie characters and action are basically open for the imagination of writers (which might be a bad thing), all they have to do is keep inside the backstory.

It was only bad because Chris Roberts was forced to cut a lot out.

                • Anyone remember a TV show called Voyager? I was thinking about that today for some reason. I'm not sure if it's crappy. Haven't seen it in ages. I liked it as a kid, but I also liked Buck Rogers as a kid.

                    • that must not be the right name. This is bugging me now. I have to find out what it was. I'm not having much luck with the google search.

maybe it was traveller or something. but I thought voyager was the name. The lead guy in it died when a loaded gun used in the production killed him.

                      • Is there anything Wikipedia cannot do? I love this thing. Though it was a google search that brought up the wikipedia page.

                        It was called Voyagers.

Though there's not much info about it in wikipedia. I guess not many people remember it.

and this wikipedia page lists a lot of sci-fi programs on tv

and finally the imdb entry of voyagers!

It was cancelled after one season. I did not know that at the time. I thought it was cancelled because the lead actor accidently killed himself.

The lead, Jon Eric Hexum, killed himself with a blank round on the set of his next show, Cover Up.

There was a series about spies who traveled the world posing as models. The series was cancelled after the male lead took a gun loaded with blanks to his head and fired it, resulting in his death. He apparently was laboring under the false belief that it wouldn't hurt him. I can't recall the name of the series. It was not Sci-Fi. There was a movie called "The Crow". The lead actor was killed by a blank gun also, but they managed to finish it anyway. I wouldn't classify that movie as Sci-fi either.
