So you going to be giving up the nailbiting on willpower or using aversion aids?

Just for you, Winston, I'll take up cocaine in the interest of maintaining a global vice balance. No need to thank me.

I dont think i have anything left to quit. But i want to spur you on somehow to a better non-smoking life

um......i'll start to do more exercise outside of my 12mile per day cycle into/out of work.

yeah that sounds cool - i need a reason to get me kick started

I'm thinking of giving it another try on New Year's Eve. But you'd have to make it worth my while by making a sacrifice of your own, say, giving up on TV, potato chips, music piracy, talking loudly on your cell phone in public places.. anything really, as long as it's something you've been thinking about, and you actually have a desire to stop doing it (or start doing it, as the case might be).

So post here if you're ready to make a commitment and support me in my quest to become a non-smoker in 2006.

P.S. Giving up on taunting me for being a smoker does not count as a commitment.
I'll give up cigarettes in 1999, how about that?

Look at what I was able to afford with all that money I saved from not buying cigarettes. And, at US prices, this was less than 4 months of savings!

Those things are cool. Even if it's cheaper just to buy and X-Box there is just some bragging rights to having a 1980's original machine like that.

It's not an original, it's a replica I bought at Target. It's just a MAME machine hooked up to a cabinet.

You don't buy original arcade cabinets with four year-olds in the house.

I have to admit it still looks mighty cool. But the funny thing is, my mad arcade skillz are now with the keyboard; don't know how good I'd look if i reverted back to the ol' joystick.

Thanks for all the support so far, not least from Gibsie!

Richelieu will give up potato chips
                              Maquiladora will give up Marmite
                              Arrian will give up smoking
Pekka will cut down on Coca Cola (and smoking..?)
Provost Harrison will dump the artichokes
Timexwatch promises to be good in the soft toy department
                              Gibsie will give up smoking
Spiffor will stop biting his nails (eww..)
                              Flip McWho likewise (hmm..)
child of Thor will start exercising even more
Monk will not start smoking again even if he used to be a hippie

This could work beautifully, but we can do better! Come on, start or stop doing something in the new year - it's fun!
