And none of his neighbors lost that suit, as you so readily admitted.

    • And I'm a capitalist. However, patented food is something I am not willing to digest.

If there is no money in corporatville, because they can't own the future of humanity, then governments should fund research. Food supplies are as strategic as the most guarded secret and more so than the richest field of oil.

I think that is settled. It was part of the origianl tiff.

Then governments "will control the future of humanity."

          Or idiot "small farmers".

Or whoever it is that is growing your food for the day.

Because nobody sued them? And it would have been stupid to do so?

Suing him was stupid. That is why this case is so noteworthy. Ooops, no, what is so noteworthy is that the SCoC agreed with Monsantos that they 'owned' his seed due to their gene being in it, nevermind that he spent his life developing it only to have their customers as neighbours for a year or so.

Better governments than an idiot corporation that sues a farmer for pollinization.

                It's quite obvious that

                1. You don't **** where you sleep.

                2. You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip.

So why not sue the multinational? They don't live where you live and they have more money.

Yeah, those same brainiac governments that pay millions not to grow food.

Since the vast majority of your food is grown by corporations anyway, your objection is rather pointless.

                  • BTW, wasn't it your guys' idea for government to be 'by the people, for the people'?

Why are you so allergic to your own idealogy?

Why would you trust the future of food to corporations?

Would you trust the defence of the United States to a corporation? Oh, nevermind.

Not mine, son. Canada has a lot of large food producing combines, and they may be fine, but we are still dominated by small farmers.

At any rate. I fail to see how my life would be improved by a corporation paying another corporation some number of dollars per acre for the privilege to grow a crop.

Just because your governments are dumbasses, don't assume that is the only recipe.

Uhmm. Because the plaintif didn't get court costs, let alone damages, for the case that went before the SCoC?

Are you a big fan of paying lawyers to lauch pointless suits?

And when the court cases were flying fast and furious, the farmer did sue the multinational. That got dismissed somewhere along the way. It seems they have a claim on his land, but he had no claim on their 'pollution'.

Let's start by turning half or more of those suburban lawns into vegetable patches- possibly even a couple of chickens. It would be a good thing, I'm convinced.
It's good for people to have small gardens but not to have people try to survive solely off of the proceeds of those gardens. That's the difference between a hobby and a livelihood and the world doesn't need more failing farmers.
