  • They are looking good.

I love Theismann's flop from "Orton has been fine, a change would be so wrong" to "That's the difference a third-year quarterback can make over a rookie.

    Clinton-esque, the flipflop.

    • I think Orton showed signs of being good, when they let him open up. He's a rookie, and thus not as experienced or practiced as one would like ... but he'll be good, possibly better than the perenially injured one. I hope we keep him for the long haul, and he'll inevitably get another chance not too far off

            • Hey Sava, I NEVER said Grossman was bad or shouldn't see playing time. I was behind the coaching staff making the decision at the right time -- which was, as I suggested, correctly decided after the coaches saw him perform healthy in practice.

They did so after they gave Orton his shot. Orton responded with 2-for-10 for a handful of yards.

My position was an endorsement of the coaching staff, and I stand by it.

This is what happens when you think something blasphemous like that.

                  • I have to laugh at Vick being unable to get any meaningful stat completion percentage wise while playing dink and dunk offensively

I think Orton played well, considering.

He only really lost one game... the Bengals game. So he didn't screw up. For that I am thankful.

This experience will be good for Orton.

I think overall, this whole situation will be good for the Bears because they will have a solid backup in Orton who has had solid experience in his rookie season. Now, with Grossman back as the starter (I assume), Orton can focus on gaining the experience that NFL rookies need... learning the playbook, learning how to watch film, basically, the off-the-field stuff that you learn by sitting on the sidelines as a rookie NFL QB.

Orton will only continue to progress and the Bears will enter next season with two solid QB's. Rex Grossman, hopefully ready to establish himself as a good NFL QB... and Orton, who probably does not have the potential of Grossman, but can be a solid QB in his own right.

I wonder if the Bears will have the TWO highest QB ratings this game ...
