Just a thought: If this guy was supposedly running up and down the aisle on a boarding plane and saying he had a bomb, have any of the passengers stated this guy was saying he had a bomb? You'd think one of them would hear him say such a thing. And freak out.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

I thought having to pass through security checks before boarding the plane were meant to rule out having a bomb in hand luggage.

To be fair at Heathrow you could probably kill more people at the hand luggage xray area than on the plane itself....

              Wow.

You guys are really comming around! I half avoided this tread because I figured there'd be a bunch of people screaming for the Marshals heads.

Yes, the Marshals acted correctly (IMO). The fact that he was mentally unstable is irrelevant, as it was nly discovered after the fact.
I have said it before and I will say it again, Cops shoot to kill, not injure. Its called deadly force for a reason. For those pulling for the less-than-leathal options, you have to consider what would be the best option, which would clearly be a TAZER. The problem with this is it inly has a range of about 20' max. Plus then you need to actually carry the thing. How many weapons do you want the Air Marshals to carry?

The fact that he was shot on the walkway is also irrelevant. So he was coming off the plane. Maybe the plane wasn't his target.

Anyway, I'm proud of you Apolyton. Way to go!

                US Marshalls = wimps

British police would have pumped 6 bullets into his head.

The whole thing is very tragic. It's odd that so many different accounts of this are being reported. However, if he said he has a bomb and he refuses to cooperate with police, then I don't blame the police. It's tragic and unfortunate that it turned out to be just mental illness.
I no longer use this account.

Just to be clear, I don't blame the police, they did what they had to do, but what is the point of this thread?

Unfortunately the total death rate for bipolar is pretty high. Though, darwini award snarks aside, it seems to survive in the population - undoubtedly there are evolutionary advantages to it, at least to milder forms - Kay Jamieson has written on that, I think.

So not only was this guy just some bipolar bloke off his meds, but he and his wife are (or rather, were) CHRISTIAN MISSIONARIES RETURNING FROM MISSIONARY WORK.

lol What a ****ing mess LOL

And I still want an answer to my question: Have any of the passengers independantly confirmed he claimed to have a bomb?
