  • I got full custody of my son!

I'm doing great. I haven't had time to post here lately. In fact I only have 5 minutes to write this post.

I got my exwife arrested for under the influence of meth. Then I found here drugs in a place were my son had access, so I called the police on her for that. The charges included child endagerment.

She got out of jail in a few days, so I don't know what charges stuck. No matter because I got a restraining order against her. So she took off to Oklahoma. Oklahoma?! WTF!

Anyway the RO gave me full custody of my son, until she takes the matter to court. Since I haven't heard from here since the incodent in Sept I figure that she won't take the matter to court. She's too busy just trying to get meth.

I'm staying in Fresno now with my son at my mom's house. I'm pretty poor until my next student loan check. That comes next month. Then I'll move.

Next semester I graduate with a degree in Accounting. So that's pretty damn cool.

Got to get to class now.

        Good to hear, Kid!

Your son should have been nowhere near that woman - glad she's out of the picture now.

        Take care!

Well done. Happy for you and your boy - and sorry for your wife. Meth is nasty stuff - which is why I said she would probably go back to using unless she changed her entire life. Hope she cleans up someday for your little boy's sake.

Since he was found in that environment - you may be able to get some counseling for him at state expense. Don't laugh - living with a meth addicted mother is a night terror for a child. Look into art therapy, as children that age often have trouble with traditional cognitive therapies - my wife's first degree was in that field. Remember, also, that the therapist is essentially going to be intimate with your child, so exercise the same - naw, in your case, more caution than you would use when choosing someone to sleep with.

                          Congratulations, Kid!

I've been wondering where you've been, and it's good to know that things are generally looking positive for you. Once again, sorry to hear about your ex.

Thanx everyone. I feel great, and I'm very happy. As many of you know I've been going through hell for about 4 years, since my (now) exwife started using meth.

                              Mr. Harley,

That's sooo true that meth is tough to kick, even if you go through inpatient treatment, because the cravings last so long. I always hold out hope for her, but realistically chances are slim that she will ever recover. I know one person who has recovered from meth addiction, but they just switched addictions, and now they are addicted to alcohol.

On another one of your points, a family therapist told me that most of the damage to children from disfunctional parents is caused between the ages of 5 and 10. I got him out of there when he was six. I think having a missing parent has an effect on him too though. Right now I take him to a group therapy thing for preteens who have suffered from addiction in their family. His mom said that he was going to a therapist for a little while, but I really don't believe here. My son seems to be doing well, but I'll look into having him see a therapist.
