No, Asher, the problem wasn't that the system would get hot, but the power supply itself. (Yknow, that huge (is it blue?) thing that you plug into the wall).

Both don't seem to get very hot to me.

I played Call of Duty 2 yesterday on a 360 at GameStop. I don't know what kind of television they had it hooked up to, but the graphics looked very nice. But alas, it is way out of my price range - 400 for the console, another 100 for 2 games, if I was lucky!

            They probably will in WMP11.

They also hired the guy who made Tetris to make Xbox Live Arcade games, like Hexic HD.

                Civ 2 > Civ 3.
Tetris > Most modern puzzle games.
                Half-Life > Doom 3.
Unreal Tournament > Quake 3 Arena.

Good graphics do not necessarily add squat.

Tales of Symphonia (gamcube) had an amazaing story and interesting battle system but cheesy cel shaded graphics.
It's only considered "cheesy" because unlike Asian markets, USian markets are filled with twits who think that for a game to be pretty, it needs "realistic" looks.

However, FFX is the better of the two games because the production values nearly matches that of a big budget hollywood film.
Not having played Tales of Symphonia, I don't know about that comparison. However, just because you have the budget of a big Hollywood film does not necessarily entail that you make art with it. For instance: Stealth, Pearl Harbor, Doom 3, Daikatana, Enter the Matrix, Matrix: Path of Neo.

Actually, Alexei Pazhitnov had already made Hexic a few years before.

And the number is 25GB (single-layer) or 50GB (dual-layer) blu-ray. The other spec they don't tell you is BD-ROMs are 6.75 MB/s (at PEAK). The transfer rate of the 12x DVD-ROM in the 360 is 15.84 MB/s (at peak). The loading times are going to be atrocious on the PS3 -- what good is all of that storage when it would take you 126.42 minutes (best case, peak transfer rate) of load times?

You do realize, Asher, that you're comparing 1x BD-ROM drives to 12x DVD-ROM drives, right? BD-ROM is in its infancy; if they ever manage to make 12x BD-ROM drives...

The simple fact of the matter is the vast majority of PS3 games are going to be DVD-ROMs as well -- not only because they're literaly a tiny fraction of the price of BD-ROMs, but they're much faster.

Correct, to a point. Until production of BD becomes cheap and common, DVD will be the medium of choice--indeed, many early PS2 games were made on CDs, not DVDs.

... then would they be in the PS3? Particularly at launch?

PS3's supposed to be mid-to-late 2006 or early 2007. Odds are, BD will still not have made too much progress--early adopters aren't getting the hardware in enough numbers until at least mid-2006.

The graphics of Morrowind, for instance, definetly added to the immersion.

I'm well aware of what he said, Imran. I was merely pointing out that graphics, when you get down to it, can also add diddly squat.

                                That's because the PS3 will have a 1x (2x max) BD-ROM, hence the comparison.

                                The Xbox 360 has a 12x DVD-ROM.

But the transfer rates are much lower and the capacity much higher with BD-ROMs. They don't make much sense for games.
