What's the confusion? If you compare this situation that actually happened with a theoretical situation, then there is going to be some difference in how the people involved acted and how it has affected them. This is why we don't simply have judges hand out exactly the same sentences for every single crime committed that falls into the same category. If in this case a vulnerable 14 year-old had been coerced into doing this and was still suffering the effects then it would be a lot closer to those seen when older men prey on young girls, in general.

Why do you think that most 14yr female statutory rape cases are like this? I think you're severly mistaken. How is this any less praying than seducing a 14yr old girl, not by force, but exploiting curiosity, or whatever else? You think that young male teachers can't enjoy a similar "thrill" as she did?
