I'm a second year Biochemist student. Various odd jobs (showing visitors the uni, telephone fundraising, etc) keep me ticking over.
Joy does not enter into it when at 9am in the morning, you're learning the urea cycle.Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Since I've returned to pursue my masters, I work in the university library. I love it...the musty smell, the giant old tomes in the archives, the logical ordering, the lack of human interaction...cool ****.
But it does get kinda scary sometimes down in the Lower Stacks...it's a basement (actually it's a real live 'sub-basement') and in these budgetarily disciplined times seldom frequented places in the library may not get new lightbulbs for months, it's quite dim and dead quiet. No one except me goes into the Sealed Archive, and there are whole vast sections that exist in semi-darkness, just me and the any passing unquiet spirits trying to freak me out."Wait a minute..this isn''t FAUX dive, it's just a DIVE!"

My real "job" is being an 8th yearstudent "working" on my Master's thesis. I love it when I'm on a roll, but I hate it and try to avoid it (that's why it's year 8) when I'm stuck once again.
Apart from that I have a part-time job at a warehouse. I'm rather shy and quiet, but most people like me, I like most people there, and the work atmosphere is good. It's not exactly stimulating work, but it's nice to just get some good, hard work done.

There are lots of really hot girls where I work.
2 of them I would love to ask out but I've already dated 2 other girls at work and that lead to some uncomfortable situations, especially when the 2 started working in the same building.
So bottom line I don't want any more trouble!
Tip: Never date at work....
Which sucks for me because I spend so much time there. We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. - Abraham Lincoln

I'm working at far and away the best school here that I've been in. Really high level kids (I'm just wrapping up teaching Catch 22 with one of my classes) and the manager directly above me is easily the best person I've ever worked for. Very nice $'s too.... Only problem is the schedule is sucky and variable.

I like my job alright (public defender, Indy). its pretty fun, I get to have lots of trials, 2 last week. I do have 3 jury trials scheduled over the next 2 weeks after thanksgiving, so that will be a bit time consuming.
I'm growing a bit bored with my work., and have put out feelers in the last 2 weeks for a new job. I have a very specific path over the next 1.5 years, and unfortunately I've found that my goals are not going to be met at where I work currently. And the pay sucks, but there is a rumor we will be getting a nice raise come the new year. I'll believe it when I see it.

I worked 2 days since my initial post. Saturday was kind of a pain in the ass. But I got everything working that was supposed to be working. So even though it was a pain, it feels good when you finally succeed. It just took longer than I would have wanted it to.
As for this girl, I'm beginning to think she only wants to be friends. I'm fairly certain of it now. I knew she liked me. I picked up on that. She's just not interested in me romantically.
So now I have two females who are only friends. *sigh*. And I want to screw them both. At the same time would be nice as well... It's best not to think about these things...

As for my job... it's ok, it's a good career move and a good resume boost. I'll give it a few years and then go for the big dough.
I need a masters though, debating what to get.

My job is fine. I don't love it, but I'm not sure there is a job out there I would really love. In fact, if playing Civ were my job, I would probably lose my love of Civ.
Anyway, I work for a big bad insurance company handling an obscure subset of claims (haz waste/pollution) which essentially means lots of reading & writing, arguing with lawyers. Not much travel, which I don't mind. Occasionally the job can be quite interesting. Often it's not.
That being said, I've got a real cushy setup. I work my 40 hours per week, I get paid relatively well, and I almost never encounter any job-related stress. I'm not worked too hard (as evidenced by my posting here - although that can go overboard, so I have to watch it). My boss is great, and I generally like my co-workers.
My wife works harder, deals with MUCH more stress, and gets paid more. I maintain that I've got the better deal.
