Then it is time for letting Bush's give aways to the top 1% expire, simplifying the tax code by eliminating corporate pork, improving education via higher standards (no more "intelligent design" nonsense in science classes), universal health insurence, fixing the worthless corporate pork riddled medicare drug benifet that costs and arm and a leg yet doesn't actually cover very many people, changing medicare rules so that Medicare can actually buy drugs at current retail price instead of only at MSRP, drastically cut back on the campaign contributions which are the source of most of Washington's corruption, end the torture in overseas prisons, restore civil liberties curtailed by Bush & his cronies, eliminate the huge waste and expensive duplicate or unneeded weapon systems to help balance the budget (Star Wars, the crap striker, the new rifle which performs worse then the M-16 and costs 4 times as much, no need for three new air superority fighters, etc), free movement of labor with in NAFTA, put an end to wasteful farm subsidies by negotiating with the EU to do the same then going ahead with FTZofA, the possibilities are limitless.
I'd also like to see more about empowering the average citizen by enforcing anti-trust laws, massively increasing the small business administration to help more people become their own boss & create jobs, end the hemeraging of money in Iraq by phasing the withdrawl & doubling or tripling the effort to train Iraqis, stop alienating the world and rebuild relationships with allies by becoming a responsible member of the international community. We can't get energy independence but we can drastically cut back our dependency by increasing CAFE standards, cutting green house gas output by advancing nuclear power to the level France & Japan use, make a big push into urban light rail and highspeed intercity rail for short to medium distances, and improve the building code to create more energy efficent buildings. These are important issues which Republicans won't deal with but Democrats can.
