    Correct.

I have never had hallucinations. Even when I was on SSRI's and other medications.

And I have smoked some powerful **** in my day.

I haven't quit smoking. I just couldn't be bothered to buy any fags for the last six weeks. I'm sure I'll work up the motivation at some point.

              Never hallucinated from it myself.

I thought the general line on that was that it was rare and you had to do a LOT to get that sort of effect (or be using laced stuff).

Anywho, while I'm not the sort to push you to try something illegal, Odin, I think the hallucination thing is bogus. Further, there is a time and a place for everything, and it's called College.

Eating and smoking are different, but I wouldn't say that eating pot is better per se. For one thing it tends to be a much slower developing buzz, but much longer lasting. It also tends to be a much different buzz, stronger, more hallucinogenic and for the novice who has only smoked weed before often overwhelming.

MJ is described as a mild hallucinogen. As Asher says some people experience mild hallucinations (like Donna on "That Seventies Show" who becomes enthralled with her own hands when stoned). It's a complex and not thouroughly understood drug which typically raises your heart rate while simultaneously mellowing your mood. It can interact with a lot of different brain chemistries in unpredictable ways. Some mentally ill (but not violent) people have been known to become violent after smoking marijuana.

For the typical (healthy) user the effects are sometimes quite useful. While MJ is a bane to almost any sort of multitasking, it does tend to increase one's ability to focus on one particular task and seems to enhance one's senses. It is used by many musical and graphic artists while they work for just this reason.

The biggest downside is for children who can sustain brain damage with heavy use in their teen years or before (while their brains are still developing). Others may develop a dependence on the drug, and for those who are suffering from depression trying to stop using while depressed can be dangerous.
