Biologically, it takes a lot of energy for a woman to bear a baby while the energy cost for a man is very low. Since the sex drive is there to make sure that babies are made it translates to women having a lower sex drive than men on the average.

Of course, individual differences can be very large. A friend of mine is just like John. He doesn't seem to be interested in sex at all.

On the other hand, while women get annoyed at men who treat them like marble statues, I imagine women get even more annoyed at men who think they should act like pornstars.

Just speak to them normally. Don't drool when you talk, and avoid certain topics of conversation. Some topics to avoid include computer strategy games, Linux, Star Trek/Star Wars and military history.

In fact it is best to ask them questions and just listen. That way you cannot ever be blamed for the topic of conversation. If they start talking about stuff you aren't interested in, just ask them about it. e.g. "Why are a lot of girls wearing those right now?".

By doing this, you will separate yourself from the vast majority of male blowhards who never listen to women.

Oh. And don't try to manipulate them. Women are just far better at that game than us. They will win. If you feel emasculated by that fact, challenge her to an arm wrestle or an eating contest.

Maybe there is some credibility to what Ted Striker said, but still, I think in my case, masturbating to a girl I know would be a really bad idea. It would make things more awkward and I'd get creepier. I definitely don't like the picture he paints of the whole thing. He is probably right, but if he is people are really shallow and selfish and not the way I wish they were.

I have a similar problem as Dis though. I am attracted to girls who are way out of my league and who I have no business being atracted to. How can I control who I'm atracted to?

Jaguar's post was a very good one. But it still doesn't really help. I know how juvenile and immature and silly I am, and I think about how I view girls and I try to put it in perspective and tell myself 'so and so is only a bi-annual flavor and isn't a lifelong partner or anything.' But telling myself so doesn't really help. Is there anything else I can do.

UR, you are probably right also. But I can't just change crushes, and that doesn't solve the problem. As far as community service, I do some everyday, the last quarter I worked in an English as a Second Language program, and now I am working at an elemntary school. It doesn't really help me as an individual, though.

I am seriously considering looking into medication that will eliminate my libido. It is repressed right now and only causing my stress from the pent-up energy, and on top of that, it does not cause any good. It is a selfish desire that only causes harm. Eliminating it will just make my relationships a lot more platonic because there will be no underlying selfish desire motivating them.

There is no such thing as a platonic couple. If you want non-sexual relationships with just a feeling of closeness between the two, that's what friends are for.

In every couple, physical contact and sexuality plays an important part. And the woman, considering she's a human being too, needs that physical/sexual contact for her own well-being as well.

Having a libido is perfectly natural, healthy, and good. People who have sex often with their loved one live happier and healthier lives. If you medically suppress your libido, you'll be unable to make a woman happy on the long run.
