OH MY GOD!!! What the fuc* is up with the places I'm working at!! So right yeah, I agonized over taking this freeeeeeking receptionist position but I took it and yesterday a call comes in from a woman saying she is returning HR's call regarding the receptionsit position!??! Preface this by saying that this job for me was acquired through a temp agency, but it is a temp to hire. Who ever they put in this position they hire. Ok, so with that I call my contact at the agency and bless him out for me quiting one job to take this only to find out they are interviewing so I ask him no so politely to find out what the fuc* is going on.

Readers digest version cause I do tend to ramble.......They are extatic with me think I'm doing a great job, nothing but good feed back. Ok I can live with that until the HR department head emails me yesterday for me to reserve the conference room for three interviews for this postion. Again I call and want to know what the ...... and he says well this pisses me off a bit because we were under the impression that whomever we placed they were going to have the job. So I asked him to call and get me a definate answer. Now I have to sit here and make nice to the other girls coming in to possibly take this position. And still don't have an answer from the temp agency on top of all of this I ran late this morning because of traffic. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!! What next? I have half a mind to tell these people to shove off and go back to the other job. You know if they only wanted a temp until they found somone it would have been nice if they had bothered to be honest and let people know.

OH yeah.........and the first one of you that calls me stupid (hence the title) I'll smack you good and you'll like it!!

Well now they just came to me and asked me to fill out an application and to interview.......just keeps getting better and better! Damn I've never had to work so freeking hard to get job.

well you sound pretty stressed out by it all. Is it really worth it? Does this job pay more than the other one you mentioned you could go back to?
Maybe start looking around for another job if you need one and this gets taken.
Complications like these can be a pain, but keep your cool and make sure you have a backup plan if they do go ahead and hire someone else.
Sounds pretty s*itty of this company though - especialy if they've been lying to your face.

Then the job is surely yours. They just can't hire internally, legally, and still say they are an EOE. Right?

But you've got an advntage here, you are the receptionist... if those other people call again, just tell them the job has been filled.

THis is probably all about "process". I am employed for a law firm but working at an oil company. I am in my fifth month here and they are talking about creating an employee position. I have been told at that time I would have to apply for the job. Its their "process" and they say thats the way it has to be. It doesn't fuss me in the slightest.


I think they just didn't communicate with you well. Keep calm, tick the right boxes and just keep doing your job and everything will work out

OH and in your previous thread, I completely missed out on the fact that the receptionist job was through a temp agency. That just complicates things by adding an extra layer of communication which may have garbled the message you were getting

The other job doesn't pay as well as this plus this one has benefits as well as free food see for those of you that don't know of Schlotzsky's they are a deli sandwich shop franchise I think there only native to Texas, could be wrong though so we get free food as well as discount at all the locations.
