  • The Manly Man thread

What sort of manly things can you do that your grandfather would respect?

Me, I can operate a forklift. I also cook a mean chili.

something that my grandfather would respect?

I could probably go kill some albanians...

      that's something I can do

not necessarily something I would do...

at least not something I would go out of my way to do anyways...

my grandfather is serbian and not really a stereotypical "MANLY" man...

maybe I am not understanding the point of this thread...

explain what a manly thing is again
To us, it is the BEAST.

According to JohnT it involves using machinery to do what you're too weak to do with brute strength, and the culinary arts.

I once ran two miles in 9 minutes 58 seconds though that was 8 years ago. I rebuilt a car engine at age 18. I've shot 38 out of 40 targets on a standard Army firing range. I hiked 110 miles of the John Muir trail (Happy Isles to Lake Thomas Edison) in 6 days; not a record but not bad considering the trail follows the crest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and much of it is above the tree line.

            okay in that case...

I have also been trained to use a forklift... I worked one summer at a warehouse for Grainger

and I do lots of cooking, like BBQ, steaks on the grill, burgers, brats, and I make very good baked beans (my own recipe with a touch of jack daniels)

                  they are fun

and in the warehouse I worked at, there were these monsterously huge spiders... like freaking 4-5 inches big... they used to run across the aisles... they were so scary... but I would run them over with the forklifts and they would get flattened on the big roller (it's almost like those big asphalt roller things) and the spiders would look hilarious all flattened on the bottom of the roller thingy

I swear to god I never saw bigger spiders in my life... it was like the god damn rainforest in there man

My brother saw a guy get run over by a forklift and literally split in half.
