We have Churchill (married) and Oliver Cromwell (married) and Henry VIII (six wives!!!!), D.H. Lawrence and James Joyce.

You have Cavafy, Sappho, Achilles and Patroklos, Alexander and Harmodius and Aristogeiton.

Well- I rest my case !

And so another Greek defeat looms on the horizon.

The sun shines down on the nothing new.... to quote Samuel Beckett, another writer in English who was heterosexual.

But seriously- when will Greece and the Greeks ever be relevant again ?

Wasn't that done to Greece, which is why it's still around now ?

It just looks like a real country, not the preserved corpse of one !

By the way, you uncultured barbarian- Beckett's dead.

Now easy Winston. Although Greece is an old former danish kingdom I don't think that you can call it high treason.

Besides, to where would you deport him that could be called a punishment compared to where he lives now ?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Have you ever pondered how unprofitable it is to insult someone in their native language, when your grasp of it is evidently so poor ?

I agree though with your last comment- Greece has been occupied and overrun by so many different invaders, the only things sure to be Greek are the ruins- embalmed or otherwise.

Invite the Turks back- or the Normans, or Venetians or get a Danish monarch. Be relevant again...

I bet they aren't really ethnic Greek though- probably of distant Turkish, Albanian or Venetian origin.
