    Owen .

A good win against a team we should beat.

On the upside I had a tenner on Owen at 9/2.....still doesn't make up for going off Mendieka though.....

That was a bizzare game: Man U / 'borough. It reminds me of a few of their 'let down' games after winning the treble a few years ago. Seemed like they could care less. And Van der Saar was pretty dreadful. I don't think he's made a mistake in years, then 3 or 4 in one game. Ho hum Redevils? Are Man U and Arsenal in a competition with Liverpool to see how can stink it up the most this season?

Smith He was alright for Man U initially, but now that he's been benchwarming more than playing, when he does get on he looks lost.

Park: Had some great games initially, but has caught the Man U depression bug since spending more proper time with his new colleagues.

Ronaldo: Only player to make an effort in the game on Man U's side, and he was only on at the very end.

Mendieta: I was happy for him b/c he is a really talented player who's had a hard time recently. You could see from his smile that it meant a lot to him. 'borough could use the lift!

Owen: Should retire with Shearer. O.k., kill me now Brits! I just don't see him winning the WC for England.....or many more games for anyone. Why is that?

Smith/Scholes is a p1ss poor centre midfield IMHO. Boro just walked through them.

Man U need to face the harsh truth that Scholes, Keane and Giggs are not the players they used to be, you cannot win things with such a large part of the team being players who are past their peak and complement that with inexperienced youngsters. Of course they have a couple of very good players as well but the sum of all parts is just not enough.

It's a cliche, but games are won and lost in midfield and ManUs is probably the worst of the 'top' clubs at the moment.

Owen's had his bad patches but it's 4 in 5 league games for him since he went to Newcastle despite a couple of minor injuries. He's playing really well. Not sure why you'd criticise him now?

I just have never taken to Owen. He was exciting early on in his career but has been something of a disappointment wherever he's gone in 'later' years (as if he's old). He's no Robbie Fowler, but he's not got a lot of magic. I suppose something is to be said for how much better defenses have gotten over the years, but it just seems that Owen's skills don't pay off like they used to do.... Nothing against him, Newcastle, 'Pool, or Madrid, but I would say that Owen's fizz went flat soon after opening the bottle......

Jeez Smacksim exactly what do you want the guy to do? If he's fit and in a good side then he scores. Quality.

What happened to Robbie Fowler anyway? Wasn't he like the big upcomming talent back then?

Sadly I think Robbie is, to use a boxing term, 'shot'. He had a good career but he's to old and just not a natural athete which I think you need to be these days if you want to play Premiership football. 20 years ago he would have been unstoppable!

Huh? Isn't he like 27-28 now? He should be in the prime of his career.

Nah, he's the wrong side of 30, injured and over weight. Trust me, he's done!

If you look what he's won and his goal scoring record, he's still had one hell of a career.

I think he's like thirty, and he needs a support cast.
