Well, I expect the Americans to be greatly ashamed of Bush for decades to come, like it was the case for Nixon.

And I actually wouldn't be surprised if Bush was impeached next time a major scandal breaks out. Though the most important part of such an impeachment would be the internal dynamics of the Republican party, Bush's unpopularity makes this scenario fairly possible.

Bush is never going to get impeached...

Republicans have the majority... they will never vote to impeach him...

and if by some miracle, something so scandalous happened tht would outrage the nation, Bush would just be forced to resign... there would be no impeachment.

We know that our politicians are lying scumbags. I can't think of any French loss of innocence this century. Well, yeah, the French colonists in Algeria felt betrayed by De Gaulle, but Algeria's independence is seen today as one of his greatest historical achievements.

Ah, but a recent NBC poll showed the spread at those who want a Democrat congress to those who want a Republican congress at 48-39. That's the largest spread in 11 years, which was when the Dems were swept out by the GOP.

So 2006 may very well see a return of the Dems to control of Congress.
