  • Woot ... tomlinson

Now we just need a 2pt conversion to MCCARDELL ... and then Jeff Reed kicks a 52-yd FG to tie ...
and then something to prevent OT, like a KR for a td ...

edit: Well, no mccardell, but no 2pt conversion either ... meaning Jeff Reed needs a nice FG to win this game and my Poly FFL matchup (which is the only one i really care about anyway )

      • Yeh ... and one play too late to allow me a reasonable chance at winning this FFL game barring a Yahoo scoring adjustment

        • Well, they can still get in Reed's FG range .

          • I'm down by 4.08 points though, and Reed only gets me 4

            • 40 yard kick... good.

Maybe McCardell catches a LOOOONG pass and gets a point .

              • Well, barring something really odd and/or a yahoo adjustment (which cost me one game, actually, this year already, so who knows?) i'm going to get credit for the smallest margin of loss in Poly history I suspect

102.63 to 102.45 currently Just a few less passing yards, OR one more incompletion ... This is depressing

                • Well we'll see how the Rams do without Martz now. The problem is really the defense again this year. Play calling hasn't been that bad except in the game against the Giants where the wrong players were on the field.

                  • Their play-calling has been atrocious. They have two top RBs and don't give them nearly enough touches.

The "greatest show on turf" was effective because of Faulk's heavy involvement. Martz is far too quick to abandon the run. That means less rest for the D, which is one reason they're not too effective.

I suspect the Rams will improve in Martz's absence.

                    • It depends on who takes his place in his absense. I'm sure some of Martz's assistances share his run-averse views.

Of course it's not always bad to not run... the Eagles run less than anyone else in the league, but are the class of the NFC (the game against Dallas withstanding ).

                      • Heh. Apparently Bill Belichick wasn't impressed by Mora's little game with Vick being probable all last week, only to not play. (Or at least, with the league's decision not to do anything about it when they've been all over him to provide more details on injuries.) For most of the season, the players on the Patriot's injury report were listed as questionable...this week all 15(!) are listed as probable.

The bad news, of course, is that there's still 15 injured players, not even counting the ones already lost for the season...

                            • Vikings

At least 17 Vikings aboard boats during parties

A source says at least 17, but possibly as many as 25, Vikings team members were on the pair of cruise boats for a party that allegedly involved sex acts, heavy drinking, drugs, and possible prostitution took place.

As many as 90 people attended the party. There was also a captain and three servers on each boat.

Stephen Doyle, the lawyer of the boats' owners, said Fred Smoot and one other player booked the Thursday night cruise. Doyle declined to name the second player or any of the guests at the party.

The investigation centers on determining if any laws were broken.

Sheriff Pat McGowan says what happened may be inappropriate , but it might not be criminal.

"The dancing, in and of itself, would be legal. However, it does require a permit," McGowan said.
"And this office, we are the issuing authority for permits on Lake Minnetonka, and we certainly did not issue a permit."

Police have not completed interviewing the boats' staff and it is unknown if they have interviewed any of the guests.

Many of the staff members have talked to Doyle however. He relayed their stories to reporters Tuesday.

Once the boats left shore, Doyle said, some women guests started stripping for some of the players, who put down money as the women danced. The dancing escalated to lap dances, followed by players giving and receiving oral sex.

Doyle said the boats were on the water for 90 minutes, and the cruise was cut short by the company when the owners found out what was happening.

Smoot, nor his agent, returned calls on Tuesday, but late in the evening the Vikings organization released a statement saying, "The organization has been made aware of the allegations involving our players and we take these allegations very seriously. We are working diligently to gather as many facts as possible."

Regardless of whether anything illegal happened, players could face fines or other punishments for violating the NFL's Personal conduct policy.
