      This situation doesn't have a solution. Stop trying to find it. Rather, you either sympathize with him or ridicule him. He's acting like he has a vagina.
      I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

          I don't think I've ever seen anything being advertised/sold* pre VAT/tax, not sure if it's even legal.

            Depending on the goods (white goods, electrical goods, et cetera) and on the outlet (shops selling electronics on Tottenham Court Road) you can get discounts for cash (effectively they swallow the cost of the V.A.T. for a quick sale) .

              WTF is acting like a vagina supposed to mean? Can you act like a penis too?

                Comprehension issues. He's acting like he has a vagina -- i.e., he's acting like a girl, and is trying to get his girlfriends to sympathize with him. He's not looking for a solution to this situation, as any guy on Poly will be trying to offer him.

                        for the political incorrectness (and the accuracy) of the comment

                        How the **** does anyone living in Canada think an advertised price includes taxes? Gimme a break!

                            Actually this type of thing has happened to me a few times. (except I had the extra money on me)
                            And MOST of the time, the cashier will just waive the extra amount as long as it's not more than a few dollars.

                            This is usually done because;
