  • The Boston Globe ranks the top 50 sci-fi shows of all time

...and here is all you need to know about this particular list.

It includes Batman, Stargate SG-1, and ST: Voyager. (#1? ST: TOS)

It does not include The Prisoner, ST: DS9, or even Farscape.

What a craptacularly craptastic crapxtraganza of craptitude. What's worse, you can't even display the whole list at once; you have to click through each show.

I think overall, the top 5 are OK, except I would move the New BSG out of them and put the Twighlight Zone instead, because that show was very influential.

The list is weird though, and I would like to know what criteria they used.

And I agree that the shows you mentioned do deserve to be there in that list.

Christ almighty, three Star Treks in the top 15 (including Voyager), and the best of all (DS9) isn't anywhere to be found?

Weird List-- I found it difficult to think of shows like "3rd rock from the sun" as science fiction and even odder to think of "LOST" in that category and it is weird that number 2 is a new show .

It did remind me of the "Outer Limits" though-- a show I always enjoyed despite its lack of continuity

That list is a huge troll. Maybe they wanted to rake in ad hits by creating a list that is bound to make people so irate the link will propagate itself through fora, IRC, Slashdot and whatnot?
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

One can always argue relative positions so the list isn't that bad. And yes ST: DS9 was the only one I couldn't stomach and had to stop watching.

My only big complaint was "LOGAN's RUN"
And it was ranked so high. A show that barely ran 1 year and 99% of the people never knew it had been made into a TV series.

                        The Boston Globe is ****:
                        a) because they didn't include The Prisoner in the top 50; and
                        b) because I have to edit their god awful **** writing.

                            My top 5

                            5. Farscape
                            4. Red Dwarf
                            3. Babylon 5
                            2. ST: TNG
                            1. Dr. Who

Xena is not scifi. WHAT??? WHAT??? Idiots. Blake's 7 is worthy of mention, and I know this despite having never seen it. It has to be better than Buck Rodgers, at least, which was freakin awful.
