So it's Bush's fault that the media failed in thier job and was fear mongering?

You're false anger at the media is a joke since it is the administration's media blackout which caused this to happen.
Interesting, as I pretty much watched 24 hour live TV coverage of the whole thing on about 10 networks the whole time. Except of course when I was listening to 24 hour live radio coverage on my way to work.

Good to see where your motives are though, obviously not with the refugees, the cleanup, and most definetly not the truth.

      Oeridn

Also of note, they tell the media the warzones are too dangerous for them as well, and they are correct.

Oerdin's trying to turn this thread into a Bush bashing session?

I wonder why Oerdin has such a hardon for Bush...
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

But then we hear that the cops in the suburb were turning back all comers at the bridge, no matter whether the people were armed.

              That still sucks, dude.

That'd be like a passing liner turning back a boat load from the Titanic for some really stupid reason.

Didn't Jengis Farb report here on Apolyton that his unit alone has killed 40 looters. And they arrived more than a week after the storm.

                Anyone believe that?

Hiya, on a quick pass so don't know what you guys have heard but here's an update on my info:

I MAY be going home around Sept 30. No definite info though.

My unit's been busting in doors, killing gangbangers, gathering dead bodies, manning checkpoints, and lots of other stuff. Huge battle between all the forces on our side and the gangbangers last week. Our group supposedly killed about 40+ of the gang members, but I didn't get any official number.

New Orleans is almost completely dry now. The pumps worked incredibly well. I talked an 85 year woman out of her house to be evacuated, some guy from the Wall Street Journal watched, got my name and said he was going to submit an article about it.

Got pictures and stuff I will try to post later when I get home.

There was not on the ground coverage for the first three days. The media did the best job it could given that the the city was declared a disaster area and guards were placed to prevent people, including the media, from reentering the city. Nearly every media group in the country joined in one law suit against FEMA claiming that FEMA was unfairly preventing the media from reporting on a national disaster. Three days later when the judge hearing the case started to make noises that he would rule against FEMA suddenly the media black out was lifted.

Like I said. It's obviously Bush's fault that the media was reporting rumours and fear mongering by local officials as fact.
