"Because Church and State were closely related, religious dissension and disagreements were a threat to the union of the young republic of the Seven United Netherlands. Supporters of religious freedom and tolerance were soon accused of high treason. In order to preserve the country’s unity, Stadtholder Prince Maurice (1567-1625) took the side of the Reformed Church. This opposed him diametrically with councilor Johan van Oldenbarnevelt (1547-1619) who stuck to his political ideas and his pleading for freedom of religion in his conflict with the prince. In 1619 van Oldenbarnevelt was beheaded on charges of high treason at the ‘Binnenhof’ (Inner Court) in The Hague."

Don't you ever forget
Never, ever think royals are up to any good.
Rhode Island is a cool state, although they do talk funny. They can't make up their minds if their Bostonians or New Yorkers.
But it does have the historic City of Newport, where my parents used to take me for weekends when I was a kid. Its purty.
Newport is.. the home to the Newport Tower, Salve Regina University, Hammersmith Farm and the Touro Synagogue, the oldest Jewish house of worship in the United States.
Newport is also the home of the Tennis Hall of Fame and a collection of some of the more rediculously huge mansions in the US (it used to be the big summering place for the ulta rich during the Gilded Age).

It gave one group of religious fanatics a place to move to after they got into a fight with another group of religious fanatics. It also makes a nice tax shelter for rich WASPs.
In addition to presidential offspring JFK Jr. and Amy Carter, Brown had educated (if not always graduated):
Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes
Writers SJ Perlman and Nathaniel West
Really Rich Dead Guy John D. Rockefeller, Jr.
Really Rich Living Guy Ted Turner
Musicians Mary Chapin Carpenter and Lisa Loeb
Actresses JoBeth Williams, Laura Linney, and Leelee Sobieski
Watergate sleazeballs E. Howard Hunt and Charles Colson
American Nazi Party founder George Lincoln Rockwell
and me.
And now, given the thread title, a song:
Rhode Island Is Famous for You
words by Howard Dietz
music by Arthur Schwartz
Every state has something its Rotary Club can boast of
Some product that the state produces the most of
Rhode Island is little, but oh my
It has a product anyone would buy
Copper comes from Arizona
Peaches come from Georgia
Lobsters come from Maine
The wheat fields are the sweet fields of Nebraska
And Kansas gets bonanzas from the grain
Ol' whiskey comes from ol' Kentucky
Ain't the country lucky?
New Jersey gives us glue
And you - you come from Rhode Island
And little ol' Rhode Island is famous for you
Cotton comes from Louisiana
Gophers from Montana
And spuds from Idaho
They plow land in the cow land of Missouri
Where most beef meant for roast beef seems to grow
Grand canyons come from Colorado
Gold comes from Nevada
Divorces also do
And you - you come from Rhode Island
And little ol' Rhode Island is famous for you
Pencils come from Pennsylvania
Vests from (V)est Virginia
Tents from (Tent)essee
They know mink where they grow mink in Wyomin(k)
A camp chair in New Hamp(chair) - That's for me
Minnows come from Minn(o)sota
Coats come from Dakota
But why should you be blue?
For you - you come from Rhode Island
And little ol' Rhode Island is famous for you!

"Capitalism ho!"
Now I know where to send my "dud" if I ever start to have kids.
You're not famous enough or rich enough. Brown, the most cash-strapped of the Ivies, has a bit of a reputation for lowering the bar in exchange for a shot at fundraising possibilities or big future donations. IIRC, it worked like a charm with John-John.
