We just discovered that Bunnygrrl's ex killed himself because he was cut from Medicaid and could no longer afford the meds that were keepng him stable. The governor of Missouri just blanket cut 100,000 people, and so Hunter died. More correctly, he was killed, since without his meds, he was no longer in control of himself.

Vic attempted suicide 6 years ago, after which he temporarily worked with another doctor in a neighboring town, but his behavior was erratic, so the guy fired him. He got into trouble with the board of medicine, who suspended his license. Despondent, his drinking and druging went further downhill. His girlfriend left him, he got arrested, and he wound up first in a mental hospital and then in a shelter. When his divorce was finalized a year and a half ago he got access to some of his money. Able to afford "real" treatment at last he enrolled in a drug treatment facility for professionals in Florida. Last week I discovered that he left the facility a month ago, and hasn't been seen since. During his stay he's run away twice. The first time the facility made a big deal over it, even asking that we have him declared incompetent and take control of his money. This time they didn't even bother to call us for a month.

I think we need a corpus delecti first. He ran away from the place for a few weeks last year, only to turn up after having blown tens of thousands of dollars on drugs and hookers. The people running the facility asked us to have him declared incompetent and for one of us to asssume power of attorney then, but when we checked out the law we found that following their advice might have permitted him to sue us. When he left this time he told them not to release any information to us, not even the fact that he had left. Laws governing the privacy of the doctor-patient relationship demand that his doctors comply with his wishes. We found out only because my brother leveraged the information out of them.
