It's an old-good, Soviet school, if you ask me.
      You're welcome, Saras
I mean, when I was a child of 7-11 years old (before I switched to a real man's sport) I had three basketball trainings, three swimming and three chess trainings per week (it was my own choice from all available variants) absolutely FOR FREE.
Those weren't a school lessons, but a full scale training sessions (each aprox. 1,5-2 hours long after the main education in school). Not to mention that main education in school already included few hours of so-called "physical education" per week.
So, sport was easily accessible for Soviet children. They could train 7 days per week, chose any sport/sports they wish and pay absolutely nothing for this. And any child had a real chance to become a great sportsman for free.
No wonder we still expoploit last (unfortunately last)sweet fruits of Soviet system. Saras,
And sure Lithuanians were one of the best among the Soviets in terms of basketball. Don't know why, perhaps soviets invested there more than usual.

      • Croats lose, pissed at the judges.

It seems all ex-Yugoslavian teams have been shafted now...

Ah, a success story built from Soviet money. Makes sense.

          • This guy is seriously offering 1000 Euros to the first guy that finds a referee of the Croatia-Spain game in Belgrade (there were three: Luigi Lamonica, Virginuis Dovidavičius, Vladimir Drabikovski) and spits him

              Serb, wake up.

Lithuanians were the 'soviet' school. Where the fvuck is this soviet school since we broke away? your dreams perhaps, and maybe in the dreams of the late Gomelsky (great man). Russia sucks at basketball dude, and lithuania has at any time three world class teams to field.

Doubtful, since you were beaten by France. and the old SU team would take them

To say that the soviet school was purely lithuanian is very much an overstatement of reality. Russia still has a solid basketball schools.

My dad played some ball, was for one of the regional teams, btw. 'twas a long time ago.

Have you been following the game for the last 10 years, dude? Apparently not.

I was about to slap some mod around for topping a sports thread... especially since "somebody" I know has gone on record saying they shouldn't be topped

But then I saw who topped it...
