Now for my rant. Croatia has been eliminated by executive order. FIBA did not want Croatia to advance, or god forbid, has its anthem played in the middle of Belgrade. Or was it the fact that the next European Championship is being held in spain.

How else can you explain what the referees did? I mean, aside from giving 38 fouls while giving Spain only 14 (!!!) , not calling the foul when everyone in the building saw the Croatian player being pushed (deliberately) was the cherry on the cake.

The Croatian coach anounced his retirement, and the NBA player Giricek said he would never play in a FIBA sponsored competition again.

Sadly, politics have prevailed over sport. What kind of message this is to the young people who should be the future for this sport is clear.

Lietuva has had the opportunity to feel this first hand in 1995 (Saras knows). This time the "enemy of the state" was croatia.

Oh yeah, lithuanian referee . Of all people, we get fu*ked by a lithuanian referee.

He basically denies any wrongdoing, says he reviewed the game from all angles as they're goven multiangle dvd's after the game, and says that the only mistake he made was at the end of 3rd quarter, giving Croatia 3 points when in fact they scored too late already.

I didn't see the game, but my friends around say that it was AWFUL refereeing. And Dovidavicius (not Dovidaitis...) seemed such a professional
