Well, isn't it obvious? thinkprogress.org is just a front for the vast left-wing conspiracy.
They've got an axe to grind against our Dear Leader, those nitwits. And if you believe it, it's obvious you hate America and think of nothing but to make political capital out of a great American tragedy.B♭3

Oh, why do you hate America so much?Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Heh. According to CNN, It's not just Brown who's out of his depth. His predecessor as director, and the next two top officials under him at FEMA, were all campaign staff for Bush in either 2000 or 2004. The guy in charge of long-term restoration was previously at the White House in charge of planning political trips and campaign ads for Bush. None of them have anything that would qualify them for the positions they now hold.

The local and state officials were obviouly unprepared for the disaster. Of course, these happen to be the local and state officials overseeing some of the poorest areas in the country. While they may be the first line of defense, given we are talking about the Deep South, I was not a bit surprised by the inability of those governments to handle the situation prior to the storm hitting-once the storm hit, they were simply out of their league.
The lackluster and slow response of the Federal government though, that has been a surprise. Fine, the Feds might not be the first line of defense, but if a battle is lost, blame goes on everyone.
I love how the admin. and it supporters simply do not want to play the "blame game" (as long as the blame is only on local and state officials and kept far away from them)If you don't like reality, change it! me

GePap excellent point...
Many of these areas are already those overlooked by prosperity as it is...no way should we expect them to handle a disaster this size on their own.
Federal prevention efforts aside, federal relief efforts were absolutely terrible...meet the new boss, same as the old boss

The government of New Orleans has been failing the people of NO for the last century, why should they be any better now? This is the most violent, poorest, least educated large City in America. All of a sudden I am supposed to be surprised that they can't handle the second strongest Hurricane to hit the US since records began??
But the fact that it was not until 4 days later that significant Federal aid began to pour into the area, THAT is a surprise, cause I assume the Locals and State asked for Federal help on monday, and since Bush had already made the areas disaster zones on saturday, meaning that the green light for Federal aid was already there, why should it take 96 hours? If you don't like reality, change it! me

One good thing that is coming out of this is that almost all the other States in union are reviewing their own diaster plans to make sure what happen in New Orleans does not happen again. Here is a link to the story about it, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9244376/Last edited by Jack_www; September 8, 2005, 21:30.
