The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.

The point being that they don't actually have any more to do with individuality than an iPod does.
I wouldn't disagree. But if a clear grasp of material reality had anything to do with consumer choices, the whole Western economy would probably tank.
My point was that, at least in my daughter's school, kids seem to chose their cell phones based on which ones their friends don't have, but their mp3 players based on which ones their friends do have. Convergence is going to make their heads explode -- not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

Ah, but that formula isn't quite right. Apple will only have the market to themselves for a short while. Once another manufacturer brings out something similar that is also more easily hackable and tradeable (i.e. not using iTMS), Apple will quickly lose the teen market.
People have been saying this about the iPod for nearly four years now. I have no idea whether this phone will take off, but Apple basically owns online music now and has done since the start.

Can't wait til RIAA forces $1.49 songs on iTMS.

The Nano is the flash Mini? Nice, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by the battery life. Given that they got rid of the HD, I expected more battery life. I also expected a removable battery this time around... They'll never learn, I guess. And why the hell did they stick a color screen on that thing? Doesn't color screens gobble power? Unless its OLED.

Well, well, well — Sony is officially rebirthing the WALKMAN in this device, which’ll be rolling out in Q4 in sizes of 6GB (NW-A1000) and 20GB (NW-A3000). It features an organic EL display that makes the readout appear fairly seamless with the rest of the player. On the software side it’s got a bunch of bells and whistles to help automagically DJ for you: ‘My Favorite Shuffle’ will randomly play the 100 most listened to songs, ‘Time Machine Shuffle’ picks a year at random and plays all the songs from that timeframe, and other functions are available to search and play songs by a number of parameters such as rating, genre, artist, recently transferred, etc. The 20GB version will be available in violet and silver, with the 6GB coming in pink and blue, and all with matching headphones. As far as codec support goes, don’t expect anything revolutionary — just MP3 and of course, ever-lovin’ ATRAC3plus. Still and all, we must profess excitement at the prospect of this thing.

There's too much empty white space with nothing on it. It looks stretched vertically.

I just checked on the Apple website, its a LCD With a black and white LCD, that baby could last 20-25 hours, or maybe more. I'm starting to think that it may be a bit too small, especially for people with big hands, like me.

More crap I have no interest in owning. I'd own a "cell" phone if the signal quality was at least as good as a land line and it was cheap and was only a phone (for simplicity's sake) and it was large enough that it was easy to use, but phones seem to be going in the opposite directions. Smaller, a lot more complicated, more expensive and poor signal quality.
A portable music player seems like a good idea for some people, but I'm rarely somewhere where I have to rely on one. I can simply rock out with speakers and cheap cd players the vast majority of the time.
Digital cameras are great, and I'll probably get a new one within a year or so. I want one with a lot of capability, not the crappy ones that are replacing the instamatic, and never the crappy ones you are now forced to purchase to complicate and expensify your cell phone.

And what's so wrong with the headphone jack being on the bottom? It's not like that is a major move.
