Winston: That wasn't so much an impersonation as it was a succint summarization from the right of the left's point of view.

One that's been proven true over and over again, there's no sense in arguing that I think.

I think it's way more important to be blaiming Bush or any number of people for that matter than to actually do something. I mean how many chances in a year do we get to blame Bush for something.

I'm just pointing out it's not an impersonation, and it's an offense to all good impersonators out there that you would conflate their art with satiric summarization.

Incidentally, that art has harsh words to say about both sides, particularly the knee-jerk reaction of the right in opposition to the knee-jerk reaction of the left.

Since my thread on the number of Hurricane Katrina threads got deleted, I'll point out here that this is thread number TWENTY EIGHT on the subject.

              Ah, sorry.

I guess there's something of a Bush in me sometimes.

I wish something was being done for the people in New Orleans, but until there is some leadership, it will be a cluster **** no matter our good intentions.

                      Tingkai: re: bush's statements.

Is this true? Seriously? I mean, ****, we're getting offers from the EU, Korea, Japan, and a host of less well-off-nations, like the Dominican Republic.

That's pretty much what everyone is saying. I just don't see why everyone has to get hung up on the fact that the goverment is moving as slow as it usually does. That has pretty much been my experience in everything the federal goverment is involved in. When I'm in a disaster like that I'm not going to expect the feds to help me. Local resuce workers and the kindness of those around me are the only thing I expect for a long time. The fed is a lumbering giant that takes it's sweet time doing anything. Rapid and federal (unless it's fedex )just don't belong in the same sentence. I know that they could if they planned correctly but I have yet to see any instance from any time where the federal goverment did anything fast.

Is it just me who thinks Winston's kneejerk defense of Republicans is amusing ironic?

Winston, you have a point but it seems your gospel is 'Bush can't do anything wrong'. Or 'he can't be blamed for these things'.

What ever. Butty boy of the left or right, is still being a butty boy. To me it seems like you guys are fighting if Mark or David is better lover.

Oh, so now I defended Republicans? Why, that's very Swedish of you to say so.

I'm amused that two people who don't even live in this country are arguing if Bush is doing a good job or not.

The burden has always been on the local goverments to handle things like this. The feds will pass their regulations and pass their rules but leave the locals in the lurch in any crisis. Then about a week later the feds come in and save the day. It's disgusting and it has been going on for very long time. This crisis just points out vividly on TV what they have done for years.
