  • you are joking right? Most of those warships just left Norfolk. Including a nuclear aircraft carrier that takes a long time to start their nuclear reactors (esp if they are in cold layup). This could have been done last saturday or sunday. It's going to take a long time to get from Norfolk to New Orleans area.
The ships from Gulfport sortied before the storm, and are still in the Gulf, the Baatan was in the Gulf already, the Shreveport and the Ashland left early Monday morning, are there already. Easily verified informantion.

you have to be kidding. we had days to prepare for the storm and it brought the whole area to its knees.and help, where coming, isnt nearly fast enough
As you so aptly put, the area was brought to its knees, so why do you think thousands of aid workers getting in and 10,000 of people getting out should be an instantaneous thing?

    • if things had been prepared, there wouldnt be people starving and dying from lack of medical attention. instead an orderly plan could have been followed to minimize damage as soon as the hurricane showed up. instead theres anarchy.

It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

            • PC people have hard time forgetting their racial prejudices .
              Yeah I KNOW CHE!

Anyway, this issue is again coming as racial issue. It ruins the whole thing IMO. First off there might be and I predict is racism involved, but, the whole looting thing, so what, no one is a looter now because some media made bad wordings?

OK then.. what ever.. I hope I don't get called a racist and genocidial when I say shoot the looters. Regardless of colour.

I"m sure if it happened in Sweden or Canada or something, your broadcasters would be saying the same thing.

                  • I'm sorry, but it is beyond belief that this has happened in the continental U.S. Obviously we can't stop hurricanes from coming, but there is absolutely no good reason for the human tragedy that was allowed to happen.

                    • In response to Ozzie: I'm sure some silly Canadian broadcaster will say something stupid, but my city has been in disaster mode (not like NO, but the ice storm in 98 was pretty major for us, shutting down the city for about 2 weeks). I've seen my local news reporters cover disasters, and they're not as dumb as some CNN folk I've seen.

But i concede the point, theres always someone who thought disaster never possible in their own land.

Kinda reminds me of that movie Southern Comfort. That was a ****ed up movie, and I am perfectly prepared to believe that sort of **** really happens in the NG
