AND this is the same guy who was bashing on another one of my friends for doing meth (as in crystal methamphetamine).
Meth will ruin your life before you know it. Keep the hell away from it.

Otherwise, I would simply put it, don't hang out with drug addicts. Unless you're helping them, just try to avoid them. Getting sucked into that kind of lifestyle with them will end whatever future you have.

Well Franky, a lot of people drink and some smoke. Alcohol is a mind-altering substance, and tobacco contains others. Even Coke (the soft drink) has caffeine, which is a stimulant. I know this stuff is legal and cocaine is not, but the line is merely arbitrary, as nicotine is more addictive than cocaine.

I don't mean to turn this into a legal or ethical debate, merely to point out this is just varying shades of grey, not black and white. Yes, cocaine can mess you up, but so can alcohol and tobacco.

So yeah, I guess one of the sensible things to do is chill out a couple of days, then see where your friends are headed.

              never do that.

I guess it comes down to a question. Scenario. Your son kills someone. You don't know how or why, but he is fleeing. He comes to you. Asks your advice. Your advice is to turn himself in. But he doesn't, wishes you well. You know it's the last time you see him. Now he is on the run for sures.

Cops come an hour after he leaves, to ask if he has contacted you and if you know where he went (and you do). What do you do. Give up your son?

              Never.

Thanks Mrs. If things get bad, at least i can talk to you two.

Me too, I like to drink but I don't let it dictate me. But the thing thats really irritating me is that they know my stance on things. I'm just so frigging unsettled by this months turn of events.

Going out for a score while drunk, on top of the other stuff that's been going on has really opened my eyes on things around here.

Frankychan - they're your friends. Of course you're upset, if you weren't, then you would not be their friends. You are off to a good start, establish firm limits that you will not hang with them if hard drugs are in use.

That protects you as well as them. You do not want to get involved with an arrest for drugs, even if you are not the one taking them. It can really f*ck with your life, and you can end up in a guilty until proven innocent situation. Plus, the protects you from getting sucked into the lifestyle, which so many people here have rightly warned you about - and which you seem to be quite aware of on your own.

If they want to still be friends when they are not using, go ahead unless it makes your uncomfortable. However, if they show signs of becoming addicts, be very careful. Addicts most often steal from their family/friends, and often perpetrate identity theft on family/friends to support their addicition. So be cautious. No need to be paranoid, but careful is strongly called for.

And ditto to everyone elses advice - get out of that area ASAP. FYI MrMitchell is right about meth. It WILL make your paranoid, it will make permanent and negative changes to your brain chemistry, and will also kill off goodly portions of afore-mentioned organ with prolonged use. If they start on that - run, don't walk, for the nearest exit.

Why not? Given the description Franky painted, it seems like they would need a sever kick in the arse in order to get themselves clean. Going to jail might be just what they needed.

From what I've heard about US jails, a kick isn't the only thing they'd be getting in the arse, so I wouldn't wish it on most of my enemies. Not that I have any enemies, of course.

Here's my 2c, Franky, hope you'll buy something nice with them:

It seems that you are disgusted with their behavior, and you're under no danger of following that path:

                              A) That's great news. It means that you're on the right path - you'll turn out just fine, and you're under no danger. The whole lifestyle isn't alluring to you in any way. However, it is very important to be completely honest with yourself on this, especially for part B.

                              B) Now here comes that tricky part: You have two possible approaches, as you've pointed out yourself - help them, or break off: My personal idea on this is that since you feel you're disgusted with all of that, and they ARE your friends, you should help them. I don't know how ( not listening to DD's advice seems like a good idea, btw ), because I don't know the specifics, but I imagine confronting them over it in a diplomatic fashion. You have the punch where it's needed, and you've already proved it when you said you were disgusted with them over this. Now it's time to try some softer touch.

                              C) GENERALLY, I wouldn't sweat it. Like he said, they were drunk, stuff happened. Just convince him to destroy the remaining coke.

Well they certainly aren't going to get clean on the outside and one of them has already shown a disregard for the safety of the public. It's also where they will end up sooner or later anyway given that they won't stop.
