Robertson believes that Chavez is a "terrific danger" to America, according to the AP. If that is reality, then I personally thank Robertson for warning the nation. I grant Robertson then the motive of wanting to put on guard a free country. That surely is a sterling motive from which to make a remark. The same cannot be granted Kennedy, Pelosi, McCain, Clinton and company.

"Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition of America and a former presidential candidate, said on 'The 700 Club' it was the United States' duty to stop Chavez from making Venezuela a 'launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism.'"

So what's wrong or incorrect about that appraisal. Robertson just may be right on. Could very well be.

what's more pathetic that Robertson publicly asking for assasinations is a conservative who doesnt have the guts to come out and agree with him but rather does a whole article about his freedom of speech....

      more Robertson quotes
We at the Christian Coalition are raising an army who cares. We are training people to be effective -- to be elected to school boards, to city councils, to state legislatures, and to key positions in political parties.... By the end of this decade, if we work and give and organize and train, THE CHRISTIAN COALITION WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL POLITICAL ORGANIZATION IN AMERICA.
      Fundraising letter, April 1991

The Constitution of the United States, for instance, is a marvelous document for self-government by the Christian people. But the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian people and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society. And that's what's been happening.
      700 Club, Dec. 30 1981

I know it sounds somewhat Machiavellian and evil, to think that you could send a squad in to take out somebody like Osama bin Laden, or to take out the head of North Korea, but isn't it better to do something like that, to take out Milosevic, to take out Saddam Hussein, rather than to spend billions of dollars on a war that harms innocent civilians and destroys the infrastructure of a country?
      700 Club, August 9, 1999

He's just not the stereotypical version. You know, he's not brown. Or Muslim. So most of the American public will shake

"I don't even know who that person is," said Chavez

Venezuelan Vice-President accuses US of religious fundamentalism
Rangel called Robertson "a man who seems to have quite a bit of influence in that country," adding that the comments "reveal that religious fundamentalism is one of the great problems facing humanity in these times."

hold on, is there such a thing a "non-religious fundamentalism"??

Mr. Rumsfeld dismissed Mr. Robertson's remark on assassination, saying: "Certainly it's against the law. Our department doesn't do that type of thing." He added, "Private citizens say all kinds of things all the time."

Our department? That means he cant vouch for the other departments??

The Rev. Jesse Jackson called for the Federal Communications Commission to investigate, just as it did when Janet Jackson's breast was exposed in the Super Bowl broadcast in 2004. "This is even more threatening to hemispheric stability than the flash of a breast on television during a ballgame," Mr. Jackson said.

I wish Jesse Jackson would just shut up and concentrate his efforts on cheating on his wife.

Was Mr Rumsfield talking to his lamp when he said that?

didnt Robertson say 9/11 was Gods way of punishing America for decadence, or whatever? Has anyone in politics taken him seriously since then?

Well, the fact he was able to say that and not gotten his media empire utterly dismantled, nor ever haven gotten castigated by the right-wing spin machine shows that obviously he does have osme power.

I mean, he was basically saying America got what it deserved, and not ONCE did I hear Rush, or Hannity, or O'Reilly go after him, not once. You have to wonder why.

IMO, if you are born (or in the case of fetus, if the mother intends to give birth) then it is what I consider to be a human life...

obviously, I don't think the value of an adult's life is more than a child's...

but in terms of how I would quantify someone's level of consciousness... certainly adults are more developed, and they are able to achieve a higher level of consciousness than a child. In simpler terms... children are stupid.

                          • Jesse Jackson is right when he says the FCC should look into Pat Robertson's statements. Calling for a (democratically-elected, by the way) foreign leader's assassination is far worse than a freakin' boob shown for a split second on the TV.

And then you hear these right-winged evangelicals actually defending him! It makes me sick.

                            • Robertson said he was misinterpreted...

"I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out.' And 'take him out' can be a number of things, including kidnapping; there are a number of ways to take out a dictator from power besides killing him. I was misinterpreted by the AP [Associated Press], but that happens all the time," Robertson said on "The 700 Club" program.

Really? You really have to wonder why?
