Recommend some European metal (no English bands)

[Al'Kimiya]

Samael is a good Swiss band, their later releases are not that metalish though.. I recommend some of the older albums by them such as Ceremonty of Opposites and Passage over their later ventures into electro-crossover-thingies.

Therion (Sweden) is also very good as Combat Ingrid mentioned above.
Moonspell (Portugal) has a couple of decent albums as well.

oh I almost forgot this thread. I also like Ensiferum. I got one song from a fellow poly poster long ago. And I liked it so much, I downloaded more. I don't like all their stuff, but there's some stuff that stands out.

a lot of stuff to check out. just need to bump this thread, so it doesn't get deleted in an off topic cleanup. It will take some time. What I usually do is do a music download festival. I just go through and try to find everything at once.

Some of this stuff may be next to impossible to find. Right now I use emule and soulseek for p2p. They are alright, but could be better. And both can take a while sometimes. I still have many songs on there that still haven't downloaded. I finally got crade of filth- hallowed be thy name. Hopefully this version doesn't have the ending cut off (unles the band intentionally recored this cover song with the ending cut off).
