I love Korean labor protestors. They could show American labor a thing or two.

Sheesh, that is some protest. I think the BA people at the moment should do something like that to that damned catering company

cathartic, yes, but did it get them raises, better working condictions, a more secure pension, etc?

                  Holy smokes.

I imagine a lot of them have a bright future in Korean politics...

Keep in mind that all the riot cops are drafted kids getting paid a whoooooooooooooooooooole lot less money than any of the protestors. Poor kids

But korean labor unions have managed to push the country towards five-day workweeks over the last couple years.

In some of them, its tough at first to see who is the protester and who is the police. I mean . . . in lots of the photos you see two uniformed groups carrying uniform weapons/shields and in similar numbers.

I actually feel for the majority of folks on both sides. Most of the workers get caught up in the moment when all they want is better conmditions. As for the police, those guys are just worker bees too. Its ironic that a protect against the management/ elite manifests iteslf in a whole bunch of lower and middle income folks whaling away at each other

Uncritical celebration of massive violence just because the word "labour" happens to be involved.

Korea is an authoritarian state with the corporations firmly in control, even if moderate-left-wingers win the elections from time to time. Yeah, I feel bad for the draftees, but when you stand against freedom, I'm not gonna feel too bad.

What are these people protesting against? Lack of violence?
