Very elaborate to keep a joke going for so long...with so many supporters...
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Hold on sweety, let me crank up the gaydar jammer in order to keep unsuspecting family people completely in the dark about our illicit satanic lust. Wait, what's that? Oh no it's a homosexuality detection expert from the Family Research Council. Curses, foiled again!
        He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

How is this different from the statement "All homophobes should be assraped. By horses."? Fighting bigotry and intolerance with bigotry and intolerance is hardly the right way.

            • What on earth makes you think (i) that that was a serious comment, and (ii) that it was meant to fight bigotry and intolerance?

I wasn't sure, so gave you the benefit of the doubt. But if it is not meant to fight bigotry and intolerance, it is just a bigotry and intolerance of its own.

One might've thought that anyone who gives a flying **** about my opinions would've seen enough of my posting style by now to tell that wasn't serious.

Please tell me how it's bigotted. As for tolerance, I never claimed to be a particularly tolerant sort. Tolerance isn't a good in itself - it matters a great deal what you're tolerant about.

You did not answer the question, BTW; "giving someone the benefit of the doubt" doesn't mean anything in context.

Yes, that pretty much explains why I missed your humor.

I tell you a short story from my youth. Once upon a time I wanted to become a knight in shiny armor, ridding the world from evil and making it a better place. And I was very upset about radicals, skinheads and neonazis, who were demonstrating, beating up people with different opinions and spraying swastikas and fascist slogans. In my rightful anger I loudly stated "Why don't we take some kilometers of barbed wire, set up a camp for that scum and give them a shovel and let them do something useful for a change". An elder, who had heard my outburst of rage, looked at me amused and said: "And this makes you different from them how?" I think he taught me a thing or two in this day.

If being intolerant of anything makes me no better than nazis, I have no wish to be better than nazis.

It is not a tolerance thing. Even after this I am still not tolerant toward neonazis. I just understood, that fighting them with their own means (i.e. by building concentration camps) does not make me any better than them. If I want to fight them effectively without giving up my moral highground, I have to look for better means. Not physically harming these people, but fighting their ideology.

Just like your statement about assraping homophobes, which does not help the cause of homosexuals.

But knowing your "posting style" by now, I am pretty sure, that you wouldn't give a rodents rear about this.
