IIRC the son signed up after 9/11 and supported the war in Afghanistan, he wasn't much of a fan of the Iraq war and became less of a fan of it as it dragged on but fought anyway because he wasn't a deserter.
Anyway I find it highly repellant for people to lecture a mother for misrepresenting what her dead son believed without even bothering to research what her son actually believed.Stop Quoting BenComment

I have these wierd conflicting feelings about this entire case as an outsider...
On one hand:

-She lost her son, and she's terribly sad, and President Bush did send him to the war she doesn't agree on.
-And even the son didn't agree to the war that he was sent to.
On the other hand:

-It's the army, and you don't get to choose your assignments.
-It's not as if he was drafted - he signed up volountarily, so I think it should be clear to him that he might do some stuff that he wouldn't agree on.
-He was getting paid for it,so, it's, eerily, his job to risk his life, and perhaps die....
