Due to the tiny variations in the quantum field the universe (or another) was bound to happen eventually. The probability (however small) is always there. As a matter of fact, they now believe our universe started from a Planck-sized nugget massing about 20 pounds.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)

While the nature of the universe remains unclear, homosexuals are undoubtly a figment of Park Avenue's erotic imagination...

Why is there something instead of nothing? The only reason I can think of, though I don't know why, is that something must in some way be better than nothing. I don't know how "better" is quantified or qualified, however.

the universe doesnt exist...it is just a zero that is right now a little bit unstable being more zero in some places and less zero in other places thus energy exists

Actually, we should have started this by asking Tesc to prove that the universe does exist.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
