No, I'm just wondering why you of all people can't spell "Abu Ghraib". God only knows how many times you've typed it since you wigged out. It should be second-nature to you by now.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if you had a special key on your keyboard just for "Abu Ghraib". Probably right next to the "Gitmo" and "Bu****ler" keys...

Drake - if you want to spell it properly - use Arabic. That's why all the modern maps of China look different from those ones from 50 years ago, we Americans are a bit language impaired (including myself, if it's not in English or Latin - maybe I'll visit Romania).

What's macabre about this is, from my admittedly limited reading on Islam, they were at one point more tolerant about homosexuality. It was considered wrong, but nothing major like being a heretic, adulterer, etc. If you were caught you just had to say I won't do it any more. So either my source a) had it totally wrong, which I doubt b) didn't realize how hideously fractured the world of Islamic intepretation of the Koran is - can you say Fatwah? or c) There's been a change, since I believe my source was forty years old or so, and then I want to see the change.

It's actually kind of interesting. I'm still trying to figure out how you got "It's all Bush's fault" from pattycake's first post, but ::shrug::, I guess you have your programmed responses .
"Hey LOTM if the US wasn't so pron on installing their own puppet leader in IRAN to controll the oil maybe there wouldn't even be an islamic revolution. They're the Persians you know. Historical people."

Obviously he's saying it's the US' fault that these guys are in power in the first place... I shortened that to it's all Bush's fault, which is a more common claim around here, even though, equally obviously, Bush wasn't exactly President at the time.

It's D: They haven't been as religious at the time, most probably.

Please, let's not start all of that "Islam is not a religion of hate" PC crap. it takes a lot more than what Islam has gone though to not call it deeply homophobic. Hell, even with all the pressures of modern society, most christian denominations are homophobic to one degree or another.

Not gonna do that. Country's to big for our "lean" ground force. And its quite nationalistic - sending US troops would lead many to rally around the Mullahs.

No, regime change in Iran has to come from within.
